Have it on good authority that we are real close to another CB...one who will be a starter and better than our current stock.

Note - dont ask for a name, i dont have one to offer
Would also be the end of Rose bud at CB you would think, he wouldn't be happy being a backup CB unless he is deemed just not good enough

IMHO Rosebud can serve us best in the midfield and he would learn heaps working with Hiariej. I reckon those two will spend a good deal of the season on the pitch together. Of course he is now a handy back-up at CB if required...

I would love to hear the comments from those at Pluim on all the starters. Keen to hear about Kekeris who looks a prospect.
In the attacking stocks for the Mariners, Josh Bingham looked very dangerous on multiple occasions only to be denied twice by the offside flag, as did young gun Peter Kekeris who created two chances from the left wing.

Quote from the match report on game thread

Was excited to see his name and hear how he went, hope he can cut it be a back up to Pain. Supper talented in attack but needs a bigger engine from the game I saw him play.

Agree Big Al, Bingham looked really good last night. I hope it continues.

I was so glad when he had his contract extended, I really think he was a lot to offer us. He's a real presence in the box and is fairly mobile for a big lad.

That being said, he really needs to make the most of any opportunity he gets this season, take and finish his chances when he gets them. I reckon he would of learnt a lot from Roy, so apprenticeship served. His time is now or never.

I'm expecting big things from him he he gets his chance. If he is fed by a quality 10, with Tommy and the wingers we have, he has the attributes to make a quality striker.

Holy I didn't say that, was taken from the club article to tell Wombat about Kekeris, that said I completely agree with everything you say and I'm a fan of Binghams..

What will be interesting is whether he gets pushed or dare I say over taken by Duncan Stewart who seems to be banging them regularly for the academy.

Nice problems to have

For some of the less switched on supporters. Ex-scummer Hoole scored a hatrick.
Maybe that is why he was considered the Scums best player.
Looks like a quality pick up.

This new CB is an interesting development, "better than our current stock" could be interpreted in two ways.

Better than Baro, who is clearly our best CB atm, or better than the other available option... Which is Mcging / Rose / Golec, which isn't that big of a deal.

Central Coast Mariners set to sign Daniel De Silva from Serie A giants AS Roma

After years of struggling to make ends meet, Central Coast Mariners are on the cusp of unveiling a marquee signing with former Australian youth international Daniel De Silva poised to join the club on a long-term deal.

One of the most highly-rated prospects in Australian football is awaiting clearance from Italy to finalise a transfer from Serie A giants, Roma, before he will sign a three-year deal with the Mariners, where it is understood he will become registered as a marquee player.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder arrived in the Central Coast this week to seal the move back to the A-League, citing the chance to gain more game time and reunite with his former youth international coach, Paul Okon. While locking in his long-term future to the Mariners with a permanent multi-year deal, De Silva will not completely sever ties with Roma. The Italian runners-up have a first option to bring the youngster back as part of a deal that will allow Roma to retain some hold on a player seen as a future Australian international.

Despite suggestions his move to Roma was cancelled, De Silva joined the Italians from his hometown club, Perth Glory, in 2015 before spending 18 months on loan at Dutch club Roda JC. He made 19 appearances in all competitions for Roda before parting ways with them in January due to injury and lack of game time. While there were plenty of opportunities to remain in Europe, De Silva believes regular football in the A-League under the guidance of Okon presented him with his best chance to further his development.

"I wanted to come back here and play football the way I see myself playing to my abilities. Obviously I worked with Paolo before and we have a good relationship. I like the brand of football he plays and the trust he has in his players. That was a big reason why I came back here," De Silva said. "He has belief in me as a young player, I have belief in him as a manager and we have a great relationship. The way he likes to play football is the type of football I like. That's why I chose to come here."

CCM club also posted on facebook that there's about to be a number 10 announcement - so I guess De Silva is about to get announced as our number ten?

I'm getting pretty excited with our signings. Assuming dS is out 10, I wonder if we've got striker who's really up to the task of terrifying opposing defenders and goal custodians....

DDS must be the number 10, add to that the CB, keeper and striker. If we can fill those positions with quality we are looking good. Would still like Cirio as a striker.
