ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hutch has to remain at the club in some capacity.
Disaster if Hutch moves on, must stay part of the club next season in some capacity. Still concerned about the strikers, who realistically can put the ball in the net consistently enough? no one on this seasons experience to date.

Someone posted on Facebook we were in talks with Scott McDonald, does anyone know if this is correct? Im not sure he's the goal scoring forward we are after, given his move to the midfield for Millwall. However I think O'Donovan would be a decent buy- he's no Keogh but he has experience abroad and plenty of goals to his name. If we gambled with Sutton years back on loan we might as well give him a go.

I think SMacdown (see Middy, I can make up ludicrous nicknames too) would be a great buy for us, and certainly fits the bill as a "Championship level striker".

Hasn't he been playing CAM though? I don't think he's played striker since his days at Boro, Celtic, Socceroos, etc.

Scott MacDonald would be a great buy. His record is pretty good apart from international level. Also, not a massive name, but has a bit of a profile and would put a few bums on seats. Hopefully not just a rumour.

I hope not cos imo he'd be worse than mrdja ( I am well aware of the fact that he broke durante's leg)

The way our forward line is set up, that's probably no bad thing. If we have a rotating four who take no particular fixed position, can all come to the ball to receive and distribute, can all make runs behind the line and can all finish, we've got a pretty potent mix.

Might shape up with our normal back 4 and 2 DMs playing behind something like:

--------------McDonald-----------
Fitz-------------------------Vernes
-------------Duke/Simon----------

The idea would be that that's where they start, but they can move to wherever a space opens up and the whole motivation is Be Dangerous.

When we're chasing the game, we go to back 4, 1 DM and 2 in the hole, but same plan - Be Dangerous.

----Trifiro----------McDonald----
Fitz--------------------------Vernes
-------------Duke/Simon----------

TBF Mrdja was a good player when he got off the dance floor and onto the pitch
The form he was in when he got the Socceroos call-up was up there with Damian Mori and the best spurts of Mat Simon and Danny McBreen. Shame it was so brief.

I want Donovan more because Brisbane want him too. Hopefully he picks beaches and babes over brisbogans.
It would be a hollow victory if he turned out to be the next Mifsud.

I don't care who we sign as long as the club scouts them properly and sign a guy who will help us win games.

I do get where you're coming from, but the fundamentals of whether someone's a good player should drive our recruitment calls, not denying someone else the opportunity to take the same risk as us.
