ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I’ll be very disappointed if he doesn’t start this weekend, his goal was excellent.
I think we should settle down a bit on that.

He was in a good position and got a great ball but the opposition had switched off thinking the game was over and the keeper left a big hole.

He did great to finish it but a fair few more cameos before we go straight to starting

I agree about getting ahead of ourselves but Alou has missed, or even not got a shot away, in similar quality scenarios. If we had a good option on the bench and perhaps had we not paid a fee for him I'm not sure he'd have gotten the run he has had.

What I like about these young kids getting minutes tho year is they look calm, like they have time. Alou at the moment for example always looks rushed when an opportunity presents itself. Duarte got a clear chance, was calm, and slotted it cleanly. That’s something we aren’t seeing from the other striker right now.
But….. the kids we are seeing are nowhere near 90 minute players yet, we saw how challenging the role change was with MDP last year. Also Theo. Far less impactful when big minutes are required.

Alou and Edmo both score that goal.
The issue is we don't create those chances for them

Alou and Edmo wouldn’t have lost their man as Duarte did to give him that extra yard or 2.

And likely Tapp doesn’t play that ball because Alou and Edmo are to close to defender making it a higher risk or in this case a low success caculation of creating a direct opportunity.

He's not anticipating fumbles or people missing headers in the box or passes that will put him in behind and then when they happen he's lunging to make up for it. Making it look desperate and rushed. Needs to anticipate more, trust his instincts and the goals will come.

Exactly, but like the old saying 'One goal does not a summer make".

"I would guess that there are only about 4 of tonight's side who are not under very serious pressure."

This was a sentence in a postI made after the Shanghai game. I am surprised no one picked up on it or challenged me to name the 4 players I thought were not under pressure for their positions.

It may be very early in the season, but just for fun, does anyone want to select which players can feel fairly safe from the bench?

Lucas, Brian, Doka, Tappy (even though he is in the wrong position). He would be in CM if there was a better CB
