Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

For Isuzu UTE A-League clubs, there are a number of factors to consider when targeting a player for recruitment.

A club’s roster must consist of:

  • A minimum 18 players and a maximum 23 players
  • Within the 18-23 players that must be signed, clubs must have a minimum of two goalkeepers and a maximum of five foreign players
  • This doesn’t include scholarship players of which clubs can sign 16
If your club is competing in the Asian Champions League, additional players can be contracted – but they are only eligible to participate in the ACL.

Two decent home games to get points.

What is your guess for points needed to qualify for the next stage?
10 or 12 points?

Pretty sure he’s gone. Unsighted at training for over a week now
I do feel a bit sorry for him, never really got a proper go, who knows why. Maybe his agent f**ked his contract up, maybe not in form, maybe not physical enough, maybe we just had better players based on current form.

All reports were he was committed to training and liked in the squad. Sometimes it just doesn't click, best of luck to him, hope he gets his chance and smashes it.

I was pleased when DWH was announced as I thought there was definitely a footballer in there - thought so from his first ever AL game (remember his debut clearly).

But he never clicked with us. Didn't get a lot of chances but never looked remotely at the races. I wonder if he'd had an injury and had lost his pace because that was his main strength, plus his one-on-one shooting. We never saw that here.

Got an injury straight after he got here

Injured his ankle almost immediately after arriving, Monty really rated him and showed faith as much he could.
Jacko didn’t/doesn’t rate him. It’s brutal but that’s footy, especially in this country with so few opportunities. It’s a tale as old as time at every level of footy, your new manager doesn’t rate you like the old manager did. We can’t dwell on it, just hope he lands a contract else where.

Maybe Monty will get Ange’s ear? (I’m joking)

My main issue with that is none of our strikers did. If you don’t fire and others are that’s one thing but Kuol, Reec and DWH all struggled yet he got the least faith of anyone. And that’s with Reec being a loan not even owned by us. Disappointing it turned out the way it did,

That was the most impressive part of everything we achieved last season. We won it all without a prolific striker. None of them got going or found any level of consistency in the final 3rd. Luckily the goals were shared around and Tulio banged a few before he left and Torres picked up the slack once Jacko got his hands on him. I personally think Eddy is most likely of to be prolific this season with Alfie joining and being much fitter.

We didn't need to score many goals last season because we were so strong at the back and didn't concede many.

With Danny and Dan both being replaced with inexperienced players, it is inevitable that we will concede more and the antidote to that is we need to score more. We need a prolific striker (and I agree that Edmo can step up) as well as contributions from the likes of Alfie, Migzy and Doka not just with goals but also covering for the fact we have lost our assist-king in Niz
