ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I made a comment a while back about a change to formation, mainly going to a back 5 with wing backs that push right up in attack, with the Smith and Doka announcements, I think this would be a very dangerous to the opposition. Back 3 of Kaltak, Faz and Hall/Roux
An added formation would be nice but I wouldn’t expect it. Monty’s version of 442 is so tried, tested and proven at this point. It has variations during a match that help when we’ve been figured out too.

Not least as Niz is at his best when breaking right. There'd be less opportunity for that if he was being overlapped all the time by a wingback.

Can't see it, but to the amazement of all... I have been wrong before.

Wrong-ish perhaps...

playing with extra defenders would undermine our primary defensive pattern of pressing in the opposition half

I find a visa RB very interesting.

I haven’t watched the league as long as you guys but can’t think of any LB or RB of a visa variety really tearing up the league or being better than a local.

That said he seems to be a Tulio clone (played for big club with lots of talent) and we were so RB dominant when we had Miller in Monty season 1 that i can see a replica of that.

Smith was very smooth with the ball at his feet while McGarry was more powerful but both more attacking and still gives us the attack, defend option of Smith then Faz as we did with McGarry

Then depending on how the attack goes this year you could push Smith higher later in the game

Squad filler for me but did impress when given a run further up the park. McGarry did very well for us but i still prefer Faz.
Now we just need another starting CB a bit lively.

We have Hall, Kaltak and Paull as CB's with Faz as cover.
Personally I'd give Windust a go but I'm not a top tier coach so will trust Monty on this.
For every Patrick you get a Siep or a Bosnar.

It's a difficult position to have a clear impact on, I think probably the best visa full back would have been Jerome Polenz in the Wanderers first season.
