If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners Squad 2022/2023

He would but given he is club captain and fairly recently extended his contract to 2024, I would say he was very unlikely
Maybe - but he is a long term player and has had a testimonial a few years ago. They could be willing to let him go as long as it wasn't within Scotland and/or Europe.

He only played about two-thirds of the games (32) last season that he did during the previous two (so his body may be catching up with him) . There is also a connection with Jason Cummings.

PJ that could be him,Dad overheard a conversation and even with his hearing aids he struggles...
Edit: That`s dad that struggles not the player
Was just a guess - but I have seen a rumour that there will be an announcement later today of a Scottish player to the Mariners. Haven't seen the source before - but Hanlon looks a good fit.

Of course the rumour could have been sourced from here!!

So if we can assume
1) holding onto Birraz
2) re-signing of the youngsters and Matty
3) an OS replacement for Kye and confirmation that Cy has gone to Hutch

we end up like

------------------------Birighitti/Sozer----------------------------
Aquilina/Kuzevski---Hall/Windust/Triantis/New CB---Faz/Roux
Nkololo/Silvera------Niz/Steele/Balard/Tapp------Ayongo/Ruhs
---------------Urena/Kuol/Cummings/Simon---------------------

We have lost Smith, Rowles, Miller, Tongyik, Hatch, Bozanic, Muller and possibly Goddard.

Rowles, Miller and Tongyik (based on his previous season) are big losses. At this stage I'm not sure we have replaced them adequately.

Ollie played well early but we performed better when he was in the stands later in the season. Goddard, Smith and Hatch all had their moments but I think the first two in particular probably did not have the season they wanted. Muller was skillful but ultimately disappointing.

The central midfielders look inexperienced but Niz, Balard and Steele all played well last season (I still would like another experienced player but that looks unlikely at this stage.

Attack wise a full season of Jason and a fit Matty will add to the mix.

Heard today PJ that the Scot and one other are coming (good source) but no confirmation as yet...

Right now, the most important signings are an experienced/quality CB and CM. One or the other will be a foreign player. I believe both are as important as the other. Whilst niz and max in particular were excellent particularly late in the season we can’t get through the season with only 3-4 (niz, max, steeley and Tapp) young upcomers in the central midfield given all youngsters go through natural dips in form.

I also can’t see Matty getting basically any minutes ahead of cumdog, marco, Ayongo, ruhs and Silvera. Has to retire. Give him a send off friendly at pluim so we can celebrate his career with us and a role behind the scenes or on the coaching staff.

Also, I don’t really believe Birra and the club are at a stand off. That Fazz rumour caught us off guard and most of us overreacted. When in reality it was the total opposite. I hope that’s the case again.
i see Birra as the new club captain. If he did leave it would be a huge spanner in the works and Monty would have to adjust on the fly.
