Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Just in case anyone thinks I'm "death riding" Kaltak, there are some facts at hand...

Only 3 previous players in aleague history have had 3 red cards in a season, nobody has had 4 yet.

Interesting to me is that 2 of those are also CB's.

I think Kaltak is a decent player, however the weaknesses in his game are too significant to overlook at ALeague level or be made up for by his strengths in my opinion and have cost us significantly in points this season. Maybe it's worth sucking that up and investing in him, the coach obviously thinks so. The purpose of a forum is to share thoughts and have conversation...it doesn't mean I'm right, it's just an opinion.

Doesn't necessarily mean we have a better choice at the moment either, such a shame Dan's form is a bit flat and Windust is inexperienced.

What was the go with Kelechi John in the end? He has joined a 2nd tier team in Portgual on a free transfer.

Has been playing for them since his arrival at the club:

But for context this is also a record season for red cards and the interpretation of dogso offences - which have accounted for 2 of his 3 - has been much harsher this season.

For me his second red was the most contentious and I'm still yet to see an angle that makes me say he should have been sent off. Either he got the ball in a fair challenge or he missed in a footballing challenge and burgess put it out of reach anyway before he went down. Any other season his third red gets a yellow as do any number of others like Elsey's recent one.

First one was silly and likely a sign of inexperience at this level.

@pjennings I'm assuming you're a keeper....would most keepers rather see the opposition take a short corner or punt it into the box?
Very much WAS a keeper - past tense. I'd rather the short corner because with so many bodies in the 6 yard box it can be chaos when it is dumped straight in. But having said that I've heard that the stats of goals from corners at all levels is surprising low.

We seem to see quite a few goals in the Aleague from corners punted into the box because it pings around the players and someone like Cummings pounces on it. I reckon the defence would rather it goes short as well. Uncle Google suggests more goals eventuate from short corners, but I'd still rather see it get dumped into the box.

I'd like to see the stats of all outcomes from both - goal, goal kick, another corner, penalty, no shot attempted, lost possession. It certainly feels like short corners lead to less additional corners and more scenarios where the ball doesnt actually end up getting delivered. Also a question around how those stats interact with the distance for opposition players being upheld, seems like many refs dont care and allow encroaching and tell players to get on with it.
