To be expected although seems early. The best option here is a loan back for the season or leave in January I suppose. And it kind of seems like that might happen.
smart putting the clause in the contract and I have no doubt there will be sell ons etc.
and who knows what the buy out fee is 7 figures could 1mill or as high as 9mill ?

and @Wombat a 17yo from the aleague is never getting bought for 20mill, his expected potential doesn’t come into it. He could be a record fee for the league though. I’ll give you that.
I probably didn't word it very well. He is a smoking prospect. If a club like Wrexham (currently hot on Netflix) or Luton of Sheff Utd could get him for say $3 or $4 million they will be able to sell for $20m+ after 2 or 3 seasons. He is almost risk free. If it's one of the bigger clubs then $5m could be the starting point.

Bit of a conundrum for Monty whether to play Garang much or not. Risk an injury before a deal is signed versus showcase him more and get the benefit of his input to games.

He's a decent player but it seems a bit over hyped to me, 5 mill is a bit over the top. Maybe I've just not seen enough of him.

Wrexham play non league. Pretty much NPL
They are on Netflix because Ryan Reynolds bought in.
It's a good watch, but yeah, Wrexham is at the very bottom of the professional tiers looking to use big movie star money to climb back up into the bigger leagues.

I'd rather see Garang go to a much bigger and well-established club for further development and some nice $'s our way.

Fair point. (Great doco so far btw) although the aleague is only seen as league that breeds raw talent in European eyes, they won’t pay that much to us for such a raw 17yo. IF at his next club he continues his trajectory then the massive fee becomes more reasonable because he’s then developed against a higher/more competitive level.

But he can’t get a visa to play in England. So if an English team signed him, as has been mentioned he’d need to be loaned out and hope he plays some Socceroos games to qualify for a visa. Could be wrong but he’d have to play 75% of the Roos games in a 12month period.

You’d think given we’re part of the commonwealth it’d be easier for aussie players without Pom heritage to get a visa.

I personally think he should go to stuttgart to be around alou or another German side so he can settle better. Settling easily is the biggest step.

A deal can be done at any point for him to leave in January or at seasons end. I don’t think it’ll come into Monty’s decision making once a deal is done. He’ll use him as much as he can.

Seem to recall he didn't play alou that much once talk of deals was underway. I wonder if such a deal might restrict his game time or have clauses about health status in Jan, new club not wanting to see him injured before he arrived.

This can end in a number of ways.

1) Second season syndrome can set in. I'm betting it won't.

2) He can stay with us until January, perform well and we will allow him to go for a very decent fee.

3) He can perform well against NZ and in the first few weeks of the APLM and get picked for the World Cup squad. Come on in a couple of games and become the hero of the Australian campaign.

If the last one happens then the fee could be anything- especially if a few clubs get involved.

I'd love scenario 3 to play out. However, scenario 2 is the most likely and hopefully it works out for him.

From the few times I have spoken to him he is a very mature 17 year old and he seems to be being looked after by his brother and the club. Wish him all the best and a good run for us before he goes.

Bare minimum he’ll leave in January. What happens after that is the most interesting part. The Kuol camp has said many times they want him playing. ie; not going somewhere and playing U19’s. I think there’s a real possibility whoever signs him could loan him back to us until seasons end. Then the next most interesting part is how will his fee be put to use. We know it’s a minimum $1mill given it’s been said he has a 7 figure release clause, could be more. There will be future sell ons etc I’m sure.

Tax, agent fees blah blah, a mil won't go as far as you might think.

Not sure an EPL team will go for him with the loan rules nowadays. A few years ago they just signed everyone and loaned them but I think they can only have loan 10 loanees a season. I not 100% on the rules.

If he`s looking to play in the EPL then Newcastle would be a good fit.
They are now cashed up and looking to chase a few trophies in Europe once they get everything setup right.

I`m not overly clued up on the Spanish Leagues but how good would Barcelona 2022- look on his resume?
That`s a serious looking name to be associated with and even training with the youth squad would put him with future world stars.
If it was my son,i`d be saying go to Barcelona mate!

I doubt Barcelona would be offering him.A German or Dutch club is much more likely.
