I’d be pretty surprised if we don’t sign these 2 Korean boys. Their CV’s are very good. The K-League is such high quality. Better than our league. They’re obviously keen, why would they come for a trial period at their age and experience... Staj would just want them here to have a better close up look and probably weighing up prices etc.
I hope the money doesn’t stop the deals happening

I'm hoping the trial is just a formality, you'd think financial expectations had already been discussed prior to flying out here for a trial so shouldnt be any major surprises there. The fact that Shaun gave us an update with names suggests the same as well. A 3 man midfield core with the two players mentioned and DDS could be really effective, in his first season I think we relied on DDS for creating chances going forward a bit too much and that wasnt good for him or us.

I think any highlight reel can mask mistakes/problems/bad things in their game. I won't properly judge him till l see a full game played (again, if he's signed) but yeah l am liking the look of him. Good touch, good pace, gets into good areas, scores some nice goals cutting inside from the wing, scored a couple from corners. Vision looks good, drifts from midfield out wide to create. Again, l don't wanna hype up someone just on a youtube highlights video, but all signs point to a competent footballer who would improve the team.

I agree, but the length of the reel means we see a lot more than say an Adsrubal and manyothers - too much football there to not see his quality - but maybe he goes missing or is mistake prone. Still good signs.

I hope the money doesn’t stop the deals happening. We haven’t had a high quality out and out attacking import for a very long time. (I count Ferreira as Aussie).
Who was the other Korean boy we had after our golden year? We didn’t see the best of him but he was so highly rated in Korea.
I’d love for one our other imports to be a striker but can’t see if happening unfortunately because Simon and Majok are locked in. So maybe we will get an import RB and I’d say definitely a CB. They’d be the logical options when looking at our squad.

Maybe...

Way I see it is Majok is an upgrade for Gameiro. Then we still have Simon and Murray..,.

But we never replaced McCormack.

Yeah I would try DDS as traditional centre mid, he does well turning on the ball and keeping possession when needed.
And can push forward when appropriate.
If they land the Koreans only a couple of signings left really.

Im a bit alarmed people think Murray should be our starting striker.

I think it’s more an expectation. Until we know exactly what formation Staj is going to prefer, whether it’s 2 up front or 1. If it’s 2 then we need 4 strikers on our books. If it’s 1 up top then we realistically only 3 we need and we already have 3. And Majok won’t be a regular, Simon shouldn’t be and Murray needs to be to fully develop.

No one else. Simon is past it and Majok wouldn't make MAA1
This. It's pretty clear we'd benefit from a clear first choice striker but we're still looking for at least a keeper and RB or CB depending on what you're expecting GG to play. If we're using a visa slot for a striker we need to have a local lined up for one of those positions, on top of that we've got a visa slot and decent amount of funds tied up in Mcglinchey and Simon.

for mine it was that it was a long, quality filled highlights reel from FC Seoul in particular - clubs like that don't continue to play passengers

I’m with you.

Even if you think he’s definitely got what it takes to be a 12+Goals HAL starting striker. It’s almost certainly a bridge too far to expect that of him next season, and if he’s scoring what 8 or 9 goals, tripling last seasons tally, that’s still not enough for the starting striker of any aspiring top 6 side.

So I’m hoping there’s another striker or I fear we may well see Matty starting again.
