ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

This is a very short opportunity and we can all expect Sam back soon - these type of opportunities are important to our club and sends a strong message to all aspiring young players that the Mariners are a club where you can develop and move to bigger and better things. Many of the other A-League clubs are being criticized for doing the opposite right now. We are planning an official statement over the next 24-48 hours if required.

I think a statement sooner rather than later would be a good idea. Puts the club on the front foot and lets fans know what to expect. Otherwise people are going to find out via twitter/facebook/rumours and trolls wanting to kick us when we're finally showing some progress.

Hi everyone1

Obviously it is a very busy period at the moment for the club with contract negotiations and discussions in the January transfer window. There are some things that are difficult for the club to comment on and officially we don't ever make comment on speculation but i did want to take this opportunity to answer some questions so I can to make sure that no-one feels the club is keeping them in the dark. That is never our intention, it is more that topics can be very fluid and quickly changing by the hour. For example if you asked me yesterday if Lewis Miller was leaving for Macarthur I would have replied there was a high likelihood, yet here we are very proud to announce his extension for the next two years.

Sam Silvera is still contracted to CCM for the next two years, and the opportunity for him to train with MLS club LAFC who has a lot of very similar principles to our club, is not only a great opportunity for Sam but also for our club to form a strong relationship with. Tommy Oar has been given the opportunity to stay with CCM amid contract negotiations and talks with many other players are underway. Media speculation states that Tommy has been offered a much bigger offer at Macarthur and only Tommy and Macarthur will know the details of that. The moment something official has happened we will make a formal statement.

The club is in regular contact with all players and their intermediaries (agents) and we are actively making formal offers to players to extend their contracts. Some players have already indicated to us that they want to wait until the end of the season and just focus on the season ahead whilst others are very keen to have clarity on their future now.

Every player that agrees to stay or depart affects what we have available and the strategy for future players. This makes it very difficult to remain transparent to everyone on a day to day basis because a player who we might have felt we didn't have the budget for a few weeks ago now could be back in calculations as players we expected to stay decide to depart.

Sorry to talk in some riddles but hopefully you can appreciate why.

Fingers crossed that all the players we want to keep and recruit into the club see what huge potential we have and want to be part of something special, just like the loyalty Lewis Miller has shown us.
Thanks for the update Shaun - greatly appreciated by us fans!

On a side note, we hope the rumors of Milan not being offered an extension are just rumors. . Both him & Kim are genuine quality that will bring crowds back & deliver more wins! (Sorry just my 2 cents worth)

It's doing the rounds on all the usual sites but the average fan isnt going to see it immediately, the sooner the club responds with their statement confirming, providing a few details and explaining they are a club where young players can earn those opportunities the better. Turn it in to a positive rather than rats off a sinking ship narrative some would suggest. Otherwise the fact he's there with no official statement turns in to speculation when left too long.

Wouldn't be too fussed if we can cash in on SS. He started with a bang and has obvious talent but he's not played well other than that first game.
Nizzy has showed far more (in a different way) last season in his time than SS has. Yet hasn't got game time and yes I know we have a stacked midfield

The US league will the like the entertainment of Sam.

We would also like it if we had some nice through balls and width to our game.

So what do LAFC get out of it? Why are they doing it?

It’s very interesting that Sammy is over there for a week or 2. Take solace in the fact he won’t be leaving for free if they like him enough there will have to be a few. Surely a nice release clause is in place.

Surely given McGlinchey's long term living in Australia and assuming he may be looking at staying in Australia is there a chance that he could get citizenship and free up a visa spot?
