Hooper is the exact sorta signing that us CCM fans have been vocal about needing and wanting. Fair play Wellington, but annoyed it's not us.

This is a strange one. He hasn't really played for 18 months because of bad knees.

Australia has hard pitches. NZ probably less so. He was at a Tehran club 2 days ago. Did he fail their medical or did he drop out himself?

Tabloids reporting he “failed to reach a deal” with Esteghlal - this coming after he also apparently priced himself out of a move to Bristol City (as well as wanting 2 years, with Bristol only offering 1).
Have to wonder what sort of coin he’s on at the Nix. Was reported to be on £30,000 a week at Sheffield...

They have a decent amount of coin from Sarpreet Singh's transfer fee.

Have been told he’s on around $800k for the season. Is there any chance we’d pay that for anyone? Is there f**k...

Well he is their marquee, so 800k sounds plausible.
And with all due to respect, that's way too much for a player like him in my opinion.

I want a striker. But we need some semblance of value for money.
Can we throw around 800k for a 400k player?

At what point does the concept of a certain overpriced player or no one pressure us to overpaying by such a huge amount?

We might need to overpay to restore some faith though. I do wonder if we were too ambitious with our targets on a budget and ended up where we are now.

Sometimes thinking in a creative manner can deliver win win win results...

Me I would be looking for an early 20's striker who is playing in a lower division and who is coming to the realisation they will never be say EPL
chosen.

But say, heck in Asia you could make good money in the J, K, Chinese or Middle Eastern leagues.... but you need to be seen by those leagues so come and play for us... you will see the world also...

Looks like we are done and dusted until January unless we can find a free agent who is in desperate need of a club. Let's hope Simon, Murray, Majok and Roberts can produce the goods

I wonder if Shauns comments about pursuing a visa striker are reference a free agent or a January target.

Logically, it would have to be free agent, I mean we don't even pay decent money for free agents let alone transfer fees, so it could still be in the works and the deadline day means nothing to us.

Yeah January opens up a lot more possibilities - this certainly seemed like they were chasing a specific player now.

It's a nice idea, but if you're talking about English lower division it won't happen.
Those players who won't make the EPL and know it are probably eyeing up a move to a Championship team.
£20 000 a week to get splinters in their arse.

Realistically you'll be looking at a washed up Champioinship player like Hooper.
Either that or ask Duric if he knows anyone.

Of course there could be a couple of lads from Derby County going cheap. I'm not sure how their court case went this week.
And if they got prosecuted would that stop them getting a visa?

If you go back a few pages Shaun say
Just for reference guys we still have an option to bring in a visa player that we have been working on for a while now. No guarrantees that we will sign him but I don't want anyone to think that just because the window closed last night we have stopped recruiting.
So he does say sign him. So it's a particular player they have in mind.If they've been working on it for a while I would assume a free agent.

2 days later Hooper signs with the Nix.

96.3 fm say the club are looking in south America & eastern Europe for a striker.
There could be issues with visas though
