Wondered what soccer5s was all about ... they have a fifteen year agreement with the club as per todays release..

Here is their link ... http://www.soccer5s.com/

Taken from the above site ...
Soccer5s is proud to announce, we will be opening our first site in Australia in July 2011. We will have 8 five-a-side pitches and 2 seven-a-side pitches. The soccer pitches will be in Tuggerah at the Mariners Centre of Excellence. We have formed a unique partnership with the Central Coast Mariners at the development. Soccer5s and the Central Coast Mariners will strive to encourage football development and community involvement throughout the Central Coast. 5-a-sides is great for the entire community and we will provide competitions for men, women and enthusiastic young people and teenagers. Ladies can show off their skills in mixed leagues and prove that soccer isn't just for the boys!

Soccer5s are excited to be involved in the Mariners vision for the development, we look forward to the growth of the beautiful game in the Central Coast and throughout Australia.

Development of Stage One of the complex includes the construction of a ten court 5-a-side Soccer Centre, an Aquatic and Hydrotherapy Centre, a tournament sized football field, an Amenities Block, as well as associated infrastructure.

Today’s contract announcement ensures development of Stage One of the site will be completed before the end of September, with Stage Two set to kick off prior to the end of 2011.

. sounds like there is two different stage 1s

. good to hear things are getting underway though

Correct. I expect that this business structure will also prevent CCMFC going broke if the trust goes broke. Good business sense really; without CCMFC there's nothing.

Lets clarify, The Mariners Trust (who will borrow heavily for the venue) gains income from day 1 not the CCMFC.

Is that correct?

Ooh yeah, something I forgot about. I've got no idea how it's all set up so just as a wild stab in the dark... the Mariners Trust owns COE and collects rent from tenants, possibly including CCMFC as they will be using the offices and other facilities... but then does money go back into CCMFC?

As I said... no idea, and I doubt we will get any details on the arrangements, nor would I expect any :)

I dont have a source, but i believe the lease with Soccer5's is profit based. No one uses the courts - CCMFC get no money.

In regards to the structure, it depends on who are beneficiaries of the trust (unit holders if its a discretionary trust). This will determine how CCMFC will get its cash. CCMFC can be a beneficiary, meaning it gets a distribution (however taxed accordingly). CCMFC may not be a beneficiary and Turnbull may inject the earnings from his after tax distributions.

However, most probably you will see a direct injection of capital or a loan directly from the trust to avoid the tax consequences from the repatriation of income.

I might add, i have no inside knowledge of the structure nor plans for CCMFCs funding.

Soccer 5s looks awesome, after speaking to John I think his name is who will be running it the pitches will be great. It will be like a fake grass, not astro turf but can be played on no matter the weather, there will be comps, opportunities to book the ground for personal use etc.

EV .... not sure what this means and maybe we need to lay off the pink pills ... but does this mean Fozzie may say something nice about us or even give credit to all the work that's gone into the development of Australia's best technical training centre... nay must be the pills mate ...

Thinking Fozzie saying something nice about us....

10m start for Mariners new centre
16 Jun, 2011 12:00 AM
GOSFORD-based company North Construction and Building will soon start work on the $10 million first stage of the new Central Coast Mariners super sporting campus at Tuggerah.
Mariners chairman Peter Turnbull said the project would provide vast sporting, educational and social benefits for the region.

Stage one includes the construction of a ten court five-a-side soccer centre, an aquatic and hydrotherapy centre, a tournament sized football field, an amenities block and associated infrastructure.

All of these facilities will be available for public use as well as for the Mariners Hyundai A League Youth and Academy players providing an elite training and recovery base for the Central Coast.

"Our vision is to make the Central Coast Mariners the club of choice for all football players in Australia," Peter said.

"Ultimately this facility will enhance the Mariners brand and standing within the Australian football community."

When fully finished the Mariners sporting campus will feature two full-sized football fields and a grandstand, a function, event and reception centre, up to ten all-weather sports courts, a heated aquatic and hydrotherapy centre for community use, a gym and fitness centre and a sports medicine centre.

Stage one of the project is expected to be completed by the end of September with stage two construction to start before the end of the year.

Mr Turnbull said the Mariners Trust expects the finished project on a full six hectares (15 acres) to cost around $45 million but hasn't detailed how it will be funded.

The Federal Government provided the cash to fund the $10 million needed for the first stage.
