heard that eintracht frankfurt are looking to invest in the new centre of excellence and that it is being facilitated by the new sponsor

guess that would be a major investment for you.
hoestly, Eintracht is one of the few clubs in Germany that have some spare money to invest

no bad choice from them though (I still don't like them)

major sponsors of Eintracht are BMW and Coca-Cola....given other comments on here about "cholesterol"....that would lend itself to Coca-Cola (and Coca-Cola own Bluetongue Breweries).  That would be a major coup for us if that was the case......but then that could be a red herring....and the "Frankfurt" bit could match with products from Primo Smallgoods......which would tie in with our players being laughed at having that on the back of their shirts......  you are just a shit-stirrer Mick.

I love all of this speculation and expectation. Inevitablly we will be disappointed but I think that's par for the course being a Mariners fan. Sure there have been exceptions to the rule, but you have to admit that on most occasions when it comes to major announcements, we have been left with a sense of "ho-hum".

I think our problem is that we whip ourselves into a frenzy on this forum with talk of Marquees and major sponsors and we feed off each others enthusiasm, losing sight of reality. We are a small club with a limited budget in a ferocious marketplace. Even to be in there swinging with the big boys is an achievement in itself. Having your hopes raised one week and dashed the next, well, it's all part of the ride... 90 minutes, 90 emotions etc. I wouldn't give it up for the world.

Mariners at Tuggerah a step closer to reality

The Central Coast Mariners have taken a major step toward their goal of becoming the Club of Choice for football in Australia, after today completing the purchase of a 12-hectare site at Tuggerah from Wyong RSL.

Following todays settlement, which means that now that we own the site, and have the Development Approval in place from Council, we can now move on to starting work on the construction of the football fields and the refurbishment of the licenced club over the coming months.

We look forward to providing a home to be proud of for the Central Coast Mariners Hyundai A-League, National Youth League and Westfield W-League teams, Mariners and RSL members and for a facility the entire Central Coast community can utilise, said chairman of the Mariners Trust Peter Turnbull.

The immediate priority will be the development of world-class training pitches to be utilised by the Mariners first team, who have endured a nomadic existence during the first five seasons of the Hyundai A-League, in utilising a total of 16 training fields.

The club been focussed on providing a single training base for its first team for some time, and this is the fruit of intense labour from a lot of people, said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

Giving (head coach) Graham (Arnold) and his squad a regular base is paramount. The players, and (football manager) Lawrie (McKinna) were superb in their professionalism during the clubs set up period, and we look forward to this base having a hugely beneficial impact on the clubs on field success.

Once complete, its envisaged the development can become the pre-eminent sporting facility of its kind in Australia.

Its construction will reaffirm the Mariners continued commitment to the Central Coast, through our development of the highest quality football experience across the region through a direct community and elite football pathway, a stronger link with Central Coast Football and the provision of the perfect base for either the Qantas Socceroos or a visiting international teams, should Australia be successful in winning the right to host either the 2018 or 2022 FIFA World Cups."

Great effort to get this stage out of the way.

I do note that CCM are distinct from Mariners Trust though so it isnt really a CCM facility (a point which may become critical one day - however smart). - Happy to be corrected mind.

So does this mean the entire site is now owned by the Trust and the licensed club is leased back to Wyong RSL?

Show away games/socceroos/ACL etc etc on a big screen farken and become known as the football drinking place of choice on CC - massive market to tap chaps

The bit I like didnt make the final release:

This facility will also be a place where people can come and watch the youth games in comfort and have a few beers and a feed before wandering out to the boutique grandstand.
