ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners & CC Association ? ?

I think the Mariners academy fairy tale may have been a little premature.
Kind of wish the clock could be turned back and let CC Lightning continue independently with CCF and associations until the big plan was financially viable and expectations could be achieved.
Lots of frustration and unintentional negative comments being made from what I can see.
Chill out

The running of a club like the Mariner`s & a large Association like CCFA are just worlds apart.

The local clubs are reluctant to support anything outside of their own grounds & justifyably so in some instances.
Only a very small percentage of club players make the rep sides & once they go they are largely forgotten about.
Out of sight out of mind so`s to speak.

When players enter the rep teams it`s such a huge expense (far too much really) & a huge committment that to go & watch their mates play is really difficult.

Conversely, being involved with a professional setup obscures the vision of what grassroots football is all about.
It`s not a case of "you can use our facilities ,or we`ll do training camps for you,or even give out free passes to the kids".

It`s a very complex problem.

It needs a group of people to work & co-ordinate between the clubs, reps & the Mariner`s.

There are a number of things that need to be done.
Some examples:-
The one big problem that the clubs have, is that they only have control of the grounds for a limited number of weeks.
This means that if there is rain for a weekend, then games have to be caught up on or cancelled completely.
It`s a very difficult, time consuming job, to re-schedule games.

A club like the Mariner`s could help here by lobbying with the CCFA for more fields.
Not just one here & one there. The region needs a large football park, similar to Gunnersbury Park in West London, where there are about 20 fields. With the right equipment it`s easy to maintain & could easily cater for the majority of the games with local club grounds being used for overflow games, night matches & training.
Properly set up, the money made from canteens etc. could help fund the facility.
It would also ease the pressure on club people with various ground responsibilies on match days.

Another area that could be beneficial for Mariners & CCFA is for the Mariner`s to look after the coaching of the coaches.Ie. co-ordinating coaching updates, coaching courses etc.

With the rep teams the Mariner`s could also look at ways to help fund the kids.It doesn`t have to be by directly giving them money.Various fundraising events could be held with players attending. With high profile players in attendence more publicity would be generated & more people would attend.

Little things like having players attend local grounds, talking to parents, kids, officials etc. really does a lot of good.
It shows a club that cares for the kids & it will reap the rewards of the kids wanting to attend the games to see their heroes.

With so much money coming into the game via TV paydeals it could do no harm for the game to have some filtering back to the grassroots.

.
Something along the lines of the new proposed development of 18ha of Crown land near the old Pioneer Dairy site at Lake Rd, Tuggerah.? Nine international standard playing fields?

His statement read like one you would read when a politician resigns, he even thanked his family.
Maybe he was just embarrassed at his actions in the Mens AA9 game he played in the week before
