Apparently Leckie is considering moving to the A league with it looking like he’ll leave his current club one way or another. I’d love to see us bring him in and throw the armband at him. Exactly the kind of character we should be looking for to get that old mariners spirit while bringing some quality too.

A-League clubs have six weeks to pay all outstanding wages to players before the competition can resume.
As part of the players' pay-cut deal with Football Federation Australia for the extended season, clubs must catch up on all owed entitlements before games can restart in mid-July.

last major update suggested Foxtel was holding things up trying to get the league to agree to a reduction in the deal for the remaining 2 or 3 seasons.

And to extend that reduced deal for an additional 3 seasons
I didnt realise they were doing that. I know 9 pulled that on the NRL but didnt realise Foxtel were pushing it on the A league as well. Some big long term issues to work through then.

Hey guys, very sorry it is hard to give an update as things have been changing daily. Things are close but not yet fully locked in. The main hold up is the long term Fox deal isn't clear yet where that will land. There is a plan that team will be training next week for a mid July recommencement and play 30 games in 30 days for the A-League but at the moment it is just a plan that everyone is working towards. It is tough going for everyone at the club right now but hopefully soon things will start to get locked away so that we know what the future will look like. Apology that there isn't much more to grab onto right now - but lets keep the 19th of July free and hopefully we are all cheering the lads on again then. As soon as we get confirmations the info will flow through quickly.

“Similarly, clubs should be putting the right structures and oversight in place to ensure they are complying with their own obligations as employers – but the tendency is to skew the other way.”
The Central Coast Mariners declined to comment on the confidential settlement with Moric. They’d previously expressed surprise at it and claimed it was “without merit” and said Moric had never been engaged as a professional player.
Moric could not comment on the settlement but previously told The Age and Sydney Morning Herald that how he had been treated had left him deeply depressed.
He said during the lengthy unpaid trial he had been repeatedly told he would receive a professional contract.
“As a young person, I am now in a situation where I have to give up all my hard work as a junior and stabilise myself outside of football before worrying about improving my game,” he said previously.
“I am taking action to not only put a stop to the clubs using young players around the country but to give myself some sense of relief that I have not done anything wrong."
The legal action had been regarded by workplace law experts as an important test case on the legality of unpaid trials and internships in Australia.

Taken from the SMH - Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said the 100-person cap on indoor gatherings will be cut in July and replaced with a four-square metre rule. For larger venues, such as stadiums, a 25 per cent capacity rule will apply for venues of fewer than 40,000 seats.
That's 5,000 for the CC Stadium and a reasonable turn-out for a Mariners game - does that mean we might be able to see one or more homes games again this year, perhaps for members only? That would be a nice reward for a tough "COVID-spiked" season....

The delays around foxtel and gov rule changes make me question the hub plan the FFA has been talking about in the media. If there's no crowds it doesnt make a difference to me if we play out of CCS or another stadium but if crowds are allowed games should be at home where possible for all teams. By mid to late July state borders sound like they'll be open. One thing the hub proposal would do is cut down on travel to allow them to get the games done in the one month time frame put forward.
The NRL hasnt listed dates for games from 16/7 onwards so theres a chance CCS will be vacated by then although the warriors may remain depending on what eventuates with NZ? The warriors have a 'home' game on 19/7 @ 2PM which could throw a spanner in the works with the date Shaun mentioned.

That said, I really hope that the CC Council provides a similar level of support to CCM that it has recently to the NRL! I love both codes and it would be great to see some live football and league (in person) in the months ahead at the Stadium.
