Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

Worse this could be the sort of thing that breaks MC’s back and he just sells to Canberra or South Melbourne and gets out

I don’t think the idea of selling a visa spot is the worst thing we could do as long as the money is invested in to the squad and not used to offset the losses. For example if our current visa budget was 1.2m (just a made up figure) we’re talking around 240k each on average. But if we can get another 300k for a spot we can spend 1.5m between 4 players at an average of 375k. Hard to say which would be more effective but possibly better fit with our youth orientation.

of course if MC was to use that to reduce his input it’s just disadvantaging us.

I'm over f**king Charlesworth, the sleazy dog. He is our own Mike Ashley (Newcastle United).

I'm a Norths supporter so i'm used to being rooted........I have never been to an NRL game since our demise.

Big Al's post have been fantastic this season and the only voice of reason at times BUT if we are supposed to give that f**kwit Pikey an easy ride after sending us into this season without

1. A genuine striker.
2. An experienced CB to hold the back line together
3. A specialist LB and a RB (Ziggy is a RB/CB back not a modern day WB)
4. A Number 10.

Its just poor management by MC. Maybe he doesnt have a clue?

Wombat, I do not think MC manages to that level. I am pretty sure he would give the Club a budget and tell them to stay within it. End of his involvement.
In the past recruitment was then done in the main by the manager with who knows whose help with disastrous results.
I am expecting (maybe unrealistically) that what we have in place now will avoid unbalanced recruiting and get us a decent spine.

MC has us on short rations but I doubt he is the reason for lacking vital players. Mulvey bought us a genuine striker (Matty), a #10(McGlinchey) both we are still paying, and an experienced CB (whose name escapes but was well past it). Mulvey even bought a second star striker in McCormack as well as two backups in Gamiero and Muzz (still on the books).

We are still suffering from Mulvey's (or his agent's) decisions.

Blame MC for keeping us poor but lay the blame for who we still have in the squad on those who wasted what little money we were given.

He does think clicks solve everything. Did you see the “he wanted Moss to use a line out at a corner to get clicks”
Usain Bolt.

He is always looking for shit outside the norm. He always had the league to hide behind but the richer clubs will push ahead with a “if can’t afford it that’s not our problem attitude”. And they always want someone else to come last.

We have some people who try to keep him in check but at the end of the day he writes the cheques so know one with any power is truely telling him he’s an idiot.

The stupid part of selling our visa spot would be it gives another club an extra spot over everyone else.

Management makes a lot of mistakes but MC is right there trying his own shit as well

This could play in our hands this means clubs will be forced to play their foreign players and visa spots putting a squeeze on local players not wanting to be benched to make way for marquees . If the league continues the way it has it will stagnate.

It sure is a strange move. Stranger still as MC was one of the owners to push for an independent league.
So either more money has to be pumped into all clubs. Unlikely.
Let's face it, no matter what the league does, when the Foxtel deal is up they'll want to pay less.
Or it will mean the league become so lopsided it will be totally pointless, meaning an even harder sell to foxtel.
Imagine it. This week we have the Sydney f**king Mega All Stars International XI FC v Central Coast Homeless Hobos.

I watched that Sunderland till I die doco the other week and our predicament is 100% identical to what they went through. A f**kwit owner literally not giving a f**k whilst the club he owns is being slowly destroyed.
The only way out for them was the owner selling up.

that is our only way out.
Only thing is, the sporting landscape here is polar opposite and our club image I would argue is almost beyond repair.

I haven't seen the doco but I can tell you from experience Sunderland are not the only club like that.
Bury went out of existence this season.
Bristol Rovers have had numerous owners over the years. The latest a rich Jordanian.
We're going to get promoted and move into a new ground......... next season.
It's always next season.

I do understand an owner not wanting to spend as much as they once did. I couldn’t fathom the amounts they spend. Not that charlesworth has ever gone above and beyond to help a manager build an Arnie level team.
But if that’s the case, why still own the club? What are you getting out of it aside from losing money? It can’t be worth it.
It’s different for English clubs as you can usually drop down and have success again with a different more affordable financial structure.
It’s so make or break in Australia it’s not funny.

I really have no idea why they want to own a football club.
But once you have it, how easy is it to flog.
Wael al Qadi took over Rovers in February 2016. There's strong rumours it is for sell and has been for a while.
He didn't even have his new toy 3 years before wanting to get rid.

As I said the Bury owner just destroyed the club.
The new Bury team has just been given a place in the 10th tier of English football.

Believe me supporting Bristol Rovers, I know how they feel.
At least they have a decent stadium and up the top of the league.
Getting lucky calls from the ref left right and centre a la SFC.
