I spent 1-2 hours on Pro evo against Sao Paulo givin free kicks agains them so Ceni could take freekicks and Vukovic save them and for us to then run to the end and score into empty goal.
I gave up!

keepers tend to run very fast in computer games to get back to the box

Not if you hold down the triangle button, then they slide tackle and get sent off....

Do a deal with Bosnich, in that Lawrie will give him the opportunity to play in the Pre-Season Cup games for $0's, that's right, $0's! If he proves worthy, a further contract could be warranted.

Why would Boz play for $0's?

No one's knocking on his door in England, even lower division teams. What Boz gets in return is to show his wares and see if he's still got what it takes to play high level Football. The Mariners will provide a good stable team environment, the return to Aus also will allow him to see his family regurlary who will also provide him with the 'get back to reality' grounding that he requires.

I believe this would be a no lose situation for Lawrie, as if Boz doesn't work out, it's only the Pre-Season Cup.
Alternate Trotty & Redmayne as substitute keepers in these games or as mentioned previously loan them out to either Lightning or any one of the NSW Premier League teams and make sure they are watched at 'every single game!' by JC for a full and frank performance evaluation, if JC's not watching these games then you'd never really know & JC's not working for his $'s.

I watched Trotty play quite regulary last year for Lightning, travelling to some of the Sydney games and don't ever remember seeing JC there to evaluate Trotty's performances. Lawrie would ring Johnny Mc after games checking on Matty Simon, Chicken & Boogs etc, but that was it.

If Boz can't come up with the good's playing for us in the Pre-Season, well then it's fair to say his dreams of a future in Football will be along the lines of playing with Jamie McMaster at Umina.  :p

I don't know if anyone has posted this somewhere else,
www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23468755-5006068,00.html
But it is an article with Jess Van Stratten talking about He may come to the a-league so He gets decent game time so He can get Himself back into Australia contention.

hmm.. lawrie did sort of allude to the fact that he would be looking for a keeper if danny's suspension is upheld...... but van stratten? Well, heck i'd have him, for sure, but what happens when danny's suspension finishes?

assuming we can change squad lists throughout the season, we might loan danny out to the sheffield train on squad while he is suspended and then get van strattan on loan and then when dannys loan expires he would return to us and Van Strattan would return to Juve to either be 2nd choice keeper or be loaned out again

Would be hard to pass him up. I would certainly be happy with him. From the article it seems his contract is coming up. He could surely get a gig in europe. But may have hopes for playing for juve, and may be most interested in a loan deal.

I really think Danny will  go to a bigger league when his contact expires. He has the potential to be one of the best keepers in the world and certainly will be made an offer to good to refuse some time soon.

The loan for loan deal sounds good but if this more than capable local lad wants to return to Australia long term I think we would be mad to not offer him a contract. It would be sad to see Danny go but he will anyway, he's to good not to, and I'd hate to think we missed out on the long term prospect of a fine keeper. They don't come along to often and it could be a long time between drinks if the opportunity was missed.

Id hope Lawrie would be smart enough to sign the best young Australian keeper to a contract, and then sell him rather than let him go for free, wouldnt you?

Contract ends next year. Danny will be thinking of heading overseas at the end of next season. He wont sign another contract that would stop that. If he was in the olympics would of been a certainty. If he doesnt show for the roos, he may be here nanother year yet

Sorry if this has already been posted (I don't remember seeing it elsewhere).

Cockerill says at the bottom of the article we have sounded out Filan.

West Sydney suitors courting men with the deepest pockets
Michael Cockerill
April 2, 2008

CASHED-UP Football NSW is back in the mix as a potential investor in an A-League franchise, with various backers of a planned west Sydney team all hoping to lure the state body on board as a strategic partner.

FNSW and wealthy businessman Nick Politis were poised to go into partnership as owners of the proposed Sydney Blues franchise before the A-League began in 2005 but, at the 11th hour, Football Federation Australia ruled against the plan and Sydney FC were born instead.

Since then the relationship between Sydney FC and FNSW has been uneasy, and there is a general consensus that the club has failed to properly connect with Australia's biggest grassroots football community. Sydney FC's decision to reject FNSW headquarters at Parklea as a training centre and move back towards the CBD aggravated the situation.

Sydney FC are now hoping to make up for lost ground but could be undermined by the emergence of a second Sydney franchise based in the western suburbs - the heartland of football in the metropolitan area. It's understood there are up to three consortiums preparing to bid for the franchise.

With the AFL building a new stadium at Blacktown and spending more than $10 million in developing the framework for a second Sydney team, FFA has stepped up its plans for an A-League side in the western suburbs, with a new team slated to join the competition as early as 2010. Having originally rejected FNSW involvement in the A-League, it's believed FFA has softened its stance on the state body becoming partners in a community-based team.

Significantly, FNSW is one of the richest sporting organisations in the country, and is set to get even richer. Next year, FNSW is planning to sell its land at Parklea and move to a new base at Riverstone, potentially making a profit of up to $30 million from the shift. FNSW already has between $8m-10m in the bank.

Despite its wealth, FNSW is likely to be only a minority shareholder in a West Sydney team, but is believed to be willing to consider a strategic partnership. The new Riverstone complex is due to open in 2012 and will include seven floodlit fields, a FIFA-standard artificial pitch, gymnasium, eight-lane swimming pool, sports-science facilities, a three- or four-star hotel, administrative offices and a FIFA-standard futsal stadium.

While the planned West Sydney team will play its home matches at either Penrith, Parramatta or Homebush Bay - or a combination of all three - the new team will almost certainly base itself at Riverstone once the complex is open for business.

Meanwhile, former Socceroos goalkeeper John Filan could be tempted out of retirement by Central Coast Mariners, who could lose first-choice Danny Vukovic for almost a third of next season if he fails to overturn his nine-month suspension. Vukovic will launch a second appeal against the ban later this month, and also has the option of taking his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The suspension also rules him out of the Olympics in August.

While Mariners officials are supporting Vukovic in his appeals process, they have also begun to make contingency plans, and it's believed Filan, 38, has been approached to return to the playing arena.

Filan has not played since leaving his English premier league side, Wigan Athletic, at the end of last season. He is also being courted by Sydney FC.

Vukovic, meantime, has been offered the chance to continue training at Sheffield United, who announced a sister club agreement with the Mariners earlier this year.

Well done Lowy FC........

A W Syd team will be wealthier than they are, run by football people in conjunction with the community.

A 5 year head start as the only club in Australia's biggest city and they havent been able to embrace the football community.

They should hire Con (as long as he is prepared to move to the E Subs)

Rumours in the tele today are that Penrith, my old home town, are the latest Western Sydney area to make a bid for an A-League franchise. It seems that there are many options for new teams next year and personally I would be happy to see as many as financially possible.

Penrith would be selfishly excellent with me living on the "wonderful beach lined sea breeze coast" as I tell those I've left in hell. My Penrith or die brother who is also a football fanatic (but with no team) and myself would be thrilled to spend a day watching the Mariners smash the Western Sydney newbie's.

Panthers released a statement denying they ever approached FFA this arvo. I don't think FFA would want a second Sydney team playing solely out of Penrith.
