A MOTHER has shocked her Twitter followers and outraged the US after posting updates of her son's death.
US ABC News reports that Shellie Ross sent a message to her 5000-plus followers 34 minutes after paramedics arrived at her home to revive her son, Bryson, who was found floating in the family pool.
The two-year-old is thought to have gained access to the pool area after a gate was left open.
According US ABC News, after her eldest son called ambulance officers Mrs Ross tweeted "Please pray like never before, my 2 yr old fell in the pool".
Nearly five hours later, after her son had been pronounced dead, Mrs Ross tweeted again.
"Remembering my million dollar baby," she wrote.
Police say they are aware of the tweets, but told the National Post that "Twitter is not an issue in this investigation".
Mrs Ross, meanwhile, defended her actions.
"I didn't tweet-by-tweet the accident," she told ABC News.
The tweets caused debate among various online forums, with some angry at the timing of her tweets.

"But then I thought, Who would tweet that her son just drowned?
"I couldnt believe it."

Thats a funny thing because i was starting to think our great leader was the only one with that ability. I don't see any improvement with wee mac and travis or huke(injured) crowell(to soon) And Danny must be a genius except for his apparent weakness for a curling ball. Something that brosque would have been aware off through mark bridge .FFC Mariner said:..and any player touched by Arnoldouts genius ruined as a player forever.
