I think the key is porter/simon linking up well will results in goals.

If Adelaide United win today, and win comfortably, it'll mean that a point is all that's needed and even that would be academical given the difference in goal difference between the Mariners and Phoenix.

lol, Eggy do you ever remember away trips?

will wait until the squad is announced before doing a line up but if the nix lose today I say stack the bench with Youth league players and give them some exposure, just don't do a GVE and sub them back off

TBF i dont seem to remember that many home games either :headbutt: :ashamed:

+1 for giving the youth league boys some exposer even if adl doesnt win today we will know b4 kickoff whether we will need all 3 points or not to get thru so i reckon when lawrie announces the squad he should announce like 30players with a few to be omitted just to keep options open and mix it up a little bit

Big advantage for us in the final round.

The Melbourne v Phoenix match is before ours, so we'll know if we need to beat Adelaide or not.

It will be a cracker at Bluetongue on Sunday no matter what though.

If Phoenix cause an upset and toss Melbourne, we'd be playing for the final top four spot, and Adelaide will have automatically already won the premiership.

If Phoenix loose or draw v Melbourne, we squeak into the four automatically, and the game is a dead rubber for us, but Adelaide will be chasing the premiership.

Don't forget about QLD. If Melbourne lose and QLD beat Perth by 2 or more, Adelaide will need a win to secure the plate.

Another bonus for us - no Ogg monster for Adelaide. He's out after he got his 5th yellow card of the season by decking McKain in the Wellington match today.

They should be doing it. All games the final round should kick off the same time. I guess Fox's money wins out in the end. Why not have a viewer's choice?

Because no one would go out to the game. In england they do it as they choose a game that would be sold out regardless and then no-one can watch the other games. This is not so in the A-League and in an 8 team comp it doesnt make too much difference. Remember last season with Adelaide vs Qld in last game and everyone in CCL watching to see us win title.

Adelaide could have a LOT to play for. Given we only need one point to guarantee our finals spot, which would be one point in three games against the other finals teams, if we lose and Wellington can beat Melbourne, I'd say we deserve to bow out and fair play to the Nix! I hope Victory destroy Phoenix, mostly because it would leave Adelaide with everything to play for. I'd want to beat them at their best to build some momentum. If that was the scenario, and Qld won, we could then book a date against the Reds in the minor semi and I'd say they're the team we have the best chance against. There's probably a dozen different variables and possibilities.

As for the game, I think we've been too vulnerable with the 4-2-3-1. I'd look at a 4-4-2, but play Matty on the wing simply because we don't have 4 great midfield options and it would be a waste to have two of our 4 strikers on the bench. Of the four strikers, he could best handle a wide position because of his work rate and decent work getting to the byline and crossing. After the Tard Dome debacle, and with Heff out, I'd be keen to move Pedj out of the centre to the left. I think Clark is a solid option there over Stringers based on Adelaide's attack which is about movement and counter-attacking. Clarky has played a whole lot more games for us at CB than Stringers, even if most of them were a few years ago now.

                Danny

Porter - Clark - Wilko - Pedj

Simon - Gumps - Hutch - Caceres

          Dylan - Sasho

This wasn't always the case overseas. There were times when teams played catch-up games after the season was supposed to end, which continued to happen into the 1980s.

Porter to push up down the right wing and get balls into the middle. Sasho to sit just off Dylan, with Sasho NOT getting caught with his back to goal. Leave that for Dylan.

Oggy-dog getting pinged is LARGE for us. It makes Costanzo & Valkanis make more crucial decisions and further exposes Cornthwaite.

Simon will have to track back if Valkanis AND Costanzo go forward for set pieces.

Gumprecht to continue with probing runs down the right channel.

O'Grady may play if Agostino starts.

And for goodness sake, FIRE THE FARK UP!!! That means the 15 players, coaching staff, all of us. Make Bluetongue a rocking fortress for the bloody South Australians.

Your argument makes no sense. By having all the games kicking off at the same time, you're going to get more at the games, not less. Imagine the tension in the stands as results from other grounds are coming in and everyone's trying to work out where they are going to end up on the ladder?

It could be huge and a fantastic climax to a great season.

unfortunately, Clarke is also out as he picked up his 5th yellow of the season.  Might have to be Stringers in the back line after all....not too many other options left.

A lot will depend on Friday nights result as to what formation Lawrie will definitely go with, if we need a point then he'll probably go 3 up front, if the Welly don't get their 3 points in Melbourne then Lawrie may opt for 4-4-2, or even 5-3-2?

Either way we'll be wanting a win, we need some momentum should we reach the finals and 3 defeats against our fellow finals teams will give whoever we play plenty of confidence and we'll lack confidence.

------------Danny
Porter---Wilko---Stringers--Pedj
Osman--Gumps--Hutch---Caceres
--------Simon--Macca

Bench - Redders, Nik, Sash and Owens

If Boogs is ready then you'd assume he'll slot in the middle of defence?

---------------Danny
-----Stringers--Wilko---Pedj
Porter----------------------Osman
--------Gumps-----Hutch
-------------Caceres
---------Simon----Macca

Bench - the same

All depends on who is fit I guess.

TBH - the top 3 are all on fire at the right time of the season, who do you want to play if we make the 4?  Personally I don't care as I wouldn't feel confident against any of them.  Based on a possible fatigue factor and if we win against Adelaide then perhaps they would the option?

Welly played well on Sunday, shame for them they didn't find that form earlier in the season otherwise they would be in our spot.
