alright guys, im a hearts fan, glad sutton had a good game and a bit surprised tbh, he has looked really poor playing for us, most games just passed him by, and his first touch was dire, to slow for the spl and cant score, out of the three goals he got 2 were tap ins from about 2 yards out and 1 came from a free kick in the opponents box. he was even completely dominated by the defence of a team who are bottom of the first division in the cup (prob his worst game)

saying that tho i was surprised to see him go out on loan as we are really short for strikers,

hopefully this loan will help his confidence and he comes back a better player

im giong to take an interest in your remaining games just to see how hes doing, if you have any questions about sutton i will be happy to answer best i can

best of luck in the league

Thanks Jambo1874. Did Sutton fall out of favour with a new coach/ didn't get along with him ? or was it a matter of poor performance?

Just wondering what John must be thinking of our refereeing. To fall victim to a ludicrous yellow card
with virtually his first touch of the ball, and to have a shout for a blatant penalty overlooked, he must be wondering what he is getting himself into!

. simply stated ... it's known as a Mariners shirt :piralaugh:

. me loves me a good conspiracy theory ... and there is enough truth to this one (particularly considering the last three games) to take it to the next level :innocent:

simply just poor performances,

by all accounts he was the model pro, didnt complain as far as i know, just got on with things and waited for another chance

Jambo, any idea of the chances of him staying with us after his loan expires?
in my opinion its not likely and here's why,

without sutton we only have 4 strikers, 3 of which are all out of contract at the end of season and may not get given new ones, Steven eliott who is out of contract at the end of the season, gary glen who is still only 21 but also out of contract, gordon smith who just turned 20 last week and is very untested at spl level and kevin kyle who is also out of contract and has been out injured for over a year now. so if we let sutton go it leaves us with a fairly untested youngster and kids promoted from our youth academy. we dont have money to spend on bringing many players in and sutton still has over 2 years on his contract and only signed for us 8 months ago,

sutton is also studying for a degree in law at glasgow university and doesnt have long to go before he is done so i think he would want to come back and complete that,

we are letting alot of players leave in the summer and promoting our youths for next season to bring our wage bill down and i would think having someone with suttons experience will help out the kids we will promote to the first team

but hearts are having money problems at the moment so if we got a decent offer from you guys we may be tempted to sell, but our crazy owner doesnt sell players for anything less than what he thinks they are worth, he turned down a bid of £3 million for a 21 year old a few seasons ago

Let's enjoy sutton while we can, won't be keeping him beyond ACL

If he wants to return to Scotland and play regularly then doing well here is in his best interest. Let's hope he does well for himself and us while he is here (however long that is).

Good to hear from you jambo1874, and welcome to the ccmfans forum.

I was interested to read your thoughts on Sutton's most recent performances for Hearts. Wonder what happened, as he seemed to be in great touch when he played for Motherwell. What do you think led to his poor form?

It's a shame John Sutton is going from one cash-strapped club to another. Could be worse I suppose: he could be contracted to Rangers.

I'm guessing John Sutton was brought to Hearts by Jim Jefferies? Did Jefferies play him much? And what happened to Sutton when Sergio took over?

A couple of half-cut Glaswegians Krusty & I met in Melbourne after the game last week gave us a good chant for him:
He's blue, he's yeller,
He's a half-decent feller,
John Sutton, John Sutton.

Fits well I think. The guys were mad football followers and were very impressed that we'd got him, they reckoned he's good.

the whole situation with Jim Jefferies was strange, he finnished last season 3rd behind the old firm, got us european footall and was allowed to sign 4 players for the start of this season, he was in charge for the first two games of the season, a very good 1-1 draw with rangers at ibrox and a narrow 1-0 loss at home to dundee united then was sacked by our mental owner. paulo sergio took charge a day later and has tried to introduce a more continental style of football i.e lots of possession, lots of passing and slow build up play, sergio wasnt impressed with suttons inability to do this to the standard he wanted and dropped sutton from the squad, i think this took alot of suttons confidence away coupled with the fact he was at a new club with new team mates and the man that brought him here was dismissed so quickly, low confidence was prob the main factor in his poor performances,

just before sutton signed for you he was getting a wee run in the team, and while he was still not great he was starting to find his feet a bit, you could see there was a player in there somewhere but he didnt seem to be fully comfortable yet but was improving slightly.

I thought it was McMario for a while but that last post made sense.

I think signing Sutton will prove a masterstroke.

Jambro.. Under Graham Arnold Sutton will learn the style Sergio wants him to play. The difference here is that he has the respect of the players around him, which will no doubt boost his confidence.
If he comes back to Hearts he will be a much better player than when he left because of that.
McCheers mate & thanks for the heads up on JS.
