ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Forget the result. My rant has nothing to do with who won or lost yesterday but more to do with who got to vote or more importantly who was not allowed to vote.

How many people were disenfranchised by the stuff up of iVote. Privatising things like elections and censuses to private enterprise that is more concerned with profits than getting the correct results is scandalous. How many people were unable to vote because of this debacle?
Don't you know that's the only way conservative govts will be able to get elected into the future.
They have a big problem looming demographically. 18-34 are only voting around 25% conservative. There'll be a concerted push for voluntary voting in the coming years.
Then when it is voluntary, disenfranchise everyone but the white and o55. They're the ones who vote enmass in voluntary systems.

Best thing ever - registered and voted 2 weeks ago. No need to waste time at polling booths. It opened on 11th March so not sure why people waited until the day

Uninspiring leaders, running on similar platforms. Daley Asian PhD moment probs caused libs to get majority rather than minority govt.
Pretty hard to unseat a govt whom have a fairly stable state.
His $3b for tafe teacher moment showed he didn’t know his policies and his lead item was we won’t build stadiums it nothing on what he would do.

Lost a winnable election via poor leadership. He surely must be removed by Labor after the weekend

Certainly uninspiring leaders. Daley has already moved sideways 'cause Labor don't want a change before May. No sign of a State-wide swing either, most sitting members got a swing to them regardless of party, except for the Nats who got smashed.

This is one bit most analysis is missing. There was a statewide swing against the Government (2.7 against the LIBs 0.9 against NATs). That it did not transfer to the ALP in the same volume owes a lot to the voting system (optional preferential vs federally compulsory preferential) and a lot to probably the worst last week campaign in living memory by Daley.

Everyone is bagging the Nats but they are the most efficient in getting votes although their vote collapsed in the Murray Darling seats where it went to the SFF who have almost identical policies. The Greens are the worst.

ALP 1,296,168 36
LIB 1,265,279 35
NAT 378,415 13
GRN 364,833 3
SFF 135,491 3

For each 29109 votes they got a seat - compare that to
ALP needed 36005
LIB needed 36151
SFF needed 45164
GRN needed 121611
Massive over simplification. They appeal to a more homogeneous group of people firstly. So by default there is less competition in their seats.
Secondly the only compete in regional seats. The other parties competed in all but a few.

I have long lamented the demise of journalism in this country. (The last decent print journalist was Alan Ramsey). What we have now are cheerleaders at worst and reporters at best. You all know the cheerleaders but the reporters are as bad. Reporting as fact what politicians say is not journalism.

As the Karvelas and Ulhmann complain about the contempt people hold the 'journalism' profession it reminds me of the old adage.

Journalism 101: If someone says it's raining and another person says it's dry, it's not your job to quote them both. Your job is to look out the f**king window and find out which is true
