Is that Che Guevara? The racist homophobe of Cuban Revolution fame?!

Yikes, it's like you never grew up. Dude did nothing to improve the well being of Cuba. It was a shithole in the 60s and its a shithole now. That dude was an upper-class Argentinian malcontent.
Yes. That's right. Feel free to share it ....
FMD this is a wind up isn't it?

I think if you do some research you will find that the poster boy for revolution tortured animals as a child [his cousin wrote about this, as well as him raping their maid in a biography ].He wrote to his father that he discovered that he liked killing people, he claimed that africans didn't intermarry because they were dirty, and he considered homosexuals to be perverts. Oh and he liked [not surprisingly] taking part in the executions of prisoners. Not a wind up, just some inconvenient truths about a photogenic icon who was truly evil

I'm not contesting that the Chinese are leading in green power. Get back to me when you have amassed the intellectual prowess to understand what I was saying.

They fund renewable power propoganda campaigns because they are the leading producer of lithium batteries and photovoltaic solar panels.
so you're running like a typical LNP staffer caught out lying .
you made the case that "Lower Emissions = Lower productivity and lower GDP" this is the fraud you need to back up , you liar .
LNP/IPA bulletin points or watts stooge notes . aren't going to cut it .

Dude what are you on about. Lower productivity = lower gdp. Renewable cannot meet the same base load of energy during a standard day as fossil fuels or nuclear. Nuclear is far superior. Only people that benefits from renewable energy technology is china (Australia, Bolivia and Chile as well because of their lithium production). What even is the IPA or the watts stooge notes xD

A government spokesperson said the new plant is "not a government project" and as such "any additional costs or schedule overruns are the responsibility of EDF and its partners and will in no way fall on taxpayers".

Sounds like this EDF mob are useless, not the nuclear plant itself. Not sure what this proves to anyone. Also worth nothing that a Chinese firm, China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), a state-run company, declined to plough more funding into the project beyond its contracted term in 2023.

Plenty of nuclear power success stories to go around, it's silly to argue otherwise.

Interesting to note nowhere in those articles does it say "what an abject failure" nuclear power generation is and true believer is throwing around insults tantamount to libel.

Is constructing new power generation expensive? Yes.
The trade off is it doesn't take 4000 acres to generate the same. England isn't rich in land mass, bruh.

Try making your argument without ad hominems.

sigh, enough with the cringe imagery. Have some factual information for a change!

We have royalties on mineral extraction in QLD.

Mineral Resources Regulation 2013

"Depending on the mineral, the royalty rate payable under the Mineral Resources Regulation 2013 is either a percentage of the value of the mineral or a flat rate per tonne."

This regulation commences on 1 September 2013.

Who was in charge of qld state parliament in 2013?

oh, it was LNP.

No surprises when confronted with factual information and sources, you run away away with your tail between your legs without even acknowledging this post, @true believer.

The economic advantage for nuclear over renewables only occurs in countries that have a low solar and wind resource yield. We have an abundance of both in Australia so the current cost of producing renewable energy in Australia is far less than what it would be if we had nuclear energy. By far. In ten and twenty years time that economic advantage will be even more.

And that is just from a base cost. Add the many years it would take to establish nuclear, the lack of expertise we have in that area, the absolute ridiculous cost in getting these things running, the insane amount of water nuclear uses, the problem of nuclear waste, and you can see nuclear is a pie in the sky.

We now have a once in a century opportunity to establish ourselves as world leaders in renewable energy because of our abundance of renewable resources, that will set up our economy with incredible riches (imagine being in a situation where we can produce iron from our ore cheaper than anywhere in the world because energy is so cheap and abundant!), yet the Coalition are playing politics and filling gullible minds like yours with lies and rhetoric.

Agree plus forget economics. The plants themselves are plain dangerous to the people (us) and the waste.

They are targets in war plus disasters can happen.

Why would we do this to ourselves.

Just stick with coal, gas and add in renewables.

I am more a liberal supporter but Dutton is dumb for this and any chance he had is probably lost on this policy.

The power should never have been sold to china. Somethings should be bigger than profits.

If we are acquiring nuclear subs then a nuclear industry to support them makes sense however nuclear power has not been viable anywhere in the world without large government subsidies.

Then there is the problem of radioactive waste for thousands of years.

Then there is the NIMBY factor as reactors make ideal terrorist and conventional weapons targets [a conventional cruise missile hitting a nuclear power facility would be catastrophic. The Russians occupying the Ukrainian reactor is nuclear blackmail]. Placing reactors away from populations who will use the power generated I think means a loss of much electricity through those long power cables

Any reactors should be legislated to remain in government hands for their entire lives including decommissioning and waste storage. [Both political sides have a rich history of privatising public assets for short term political gains and the private sector shouldn't be trusted not to cut corners to turn a profit]

I still dont understand why we still sell yellowcake to belligerent states like mainland China. Pig Iron Bob is a shadow compared to Yellow Cake Kevin. {The CCP promised Kev that they wouldn't use it for weapons so if he believed THAT then I have a bridge I'd like to sell him].

Sorry Mick but the only reason renewables are touted as being the cheapest form of energy is because they are so heavily subsidised by our government using our money. Sure, once they are up running the generation cost might be minimal but that statement has to be balanced by the large capital cost including the related transmission infrastructure.

It would be nice if politicians debated this issue on the total cost instead of only doing that for the nuclear side of things but since when did those that govern us last tell the truth sadly and they think we are all too dumb to know the truth.

To the tune of $29 billion over the last decade. (Centre for Independent Studies)

Meanwhile the fossil fuel subsidies was $14.5 billion in 2023-2024. (The Australia Institute)

How would they do that when I don't watch anything but streaming services? The reason I like nuclear (yes, it should be nationalised and owned completely by the government) is because we live in the middle of a tectonic plate unlike Japan or nz, we have the largest supply of uranium and water shouldn't be a problem when northern Australia has a tropical monsoon every year.
