According to Marcia Langton on the ABC show The Conversation, women in aboriginal communities are more than THIRTY FOUR TIMES, more likely to he hospitalised due to domestic violence. There is no excuse [although some may try] to justify this atrocious treatment of women.

Do we need this sort of thread on the forum dividing us?

I don't want to stifle healthy chat if people do want it, and it's better than the echo chambers of general social media, but forums are notoriously poor for conveying tone, deeper meaning and intention. It will likely lead to increasing anger and if we start getting angry at each other here we risk losing at least some of the CCM yellow and navy tinted rapport that goes on in this designated football forum that CCMFans provides.

Was thinking the same. It’s always had the most vitriol this thread.

I enjoy different opinions but most can’t accept that in politics. The name calling, lack of understanding or care and everything is a right or left problem without being a discussion topic.

The thing is, a lot of people don't realise they hold left and right views simultaneously in most cases.
For example, many in Australia support free enterprise and entrepreneurship (right) whilst also supporting free education and medical (left).

Very few are pure left or right, they've just become target labels for the uninformed.

Extreme views - left or right - are usually pretty dysfunctional. The Maga are pretty far right generally with many at the extreme end.

Hate to burst your bubble but I dont, nor ever have had any social media account and I dont click on social media links. [ I searched for and watched Wombat's story on Youtube]. I dont read commentary or opinion pieces in the media either. I read the news and my views are a result of this combined with, more importantly, my personal experiences, which act as a bullshit filter.
Could it possibly be that there are actual grievances that aren't being heard here?

As we get older, get jobs and pay taxes, we realise that 'the government' isn't a bottomless pit of other people's money. It's OURS and it is limited. We cant afford to pay for essential services as well as a whole host of kumbaya policies so the balance between empathy and selfishness is adjusted towards selfishness. More so when we have children and also when we see government waste.

An example of this shift is the declines in donations charities receive during economic downturns.
