ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Probly not the best game to try it for the first time, I could barely hear it either pre or post game, a good idea, as ive said before, anythings better than ACDC on max volume

Wasnt my cup of tea. I think con te partiro (Time to say goodbye) by Andrea Bocelli would be better :innocent:

I probably should clarify. Was this a song sending off sterj or something the mariners are doing now?

If it was for the send-off, then I suppose it was a nice touch... But I think it would be a bit odd as "our song"... It's more sing-along-y than "Yellow" (WTF Thought that was a good idea!?) but it's never going to get anyone revved up... ;)

Alreeeeeeeeeeet.

We've done CHFILWY on and off in the bay for a few years now and it's worked pretty well.

Issue is you can't force an anthem on everyone but personally I feel this will be a cracker.

Steve Allan talking over it at the WSW game shit me a lot.

Personally, I think it's a phenomenal anthem. The original may be a little slow, but we actually have a sped up version that the club is supposed to play.

If you need inspiration, well... if I may...

Inspiration? That just inspires me to cover my ears. :vomit:

And I don't think that it's worked well over the years. For all the stellar work that the Yellow Army does, it is in my humble opinion, the one stand-out as a failed song.

I can't complain about the lyrics. It's just the pace and tone of it - even when sped up. It's far to maudlin for my taste.

And maybe it's because I can't see past the fact that we're trying to use a song by Elvis the Pelvis! Or maybe it's the connection to the lower league football teams from dire UK towns.

For those that love it - go for it by all means. One day we may have the numbers to stop it from being embarrassing. But as Pete says, you can't force it on anyone.

And I don't have a particular preference for an anthem as I think most are more than a bit naff. My only criteria would be that it should be inspirational and designed to lift the team and crowd, not put them in a coma.

I'm hearing what Mr Celery is saying, and also have my reservations - esp. with it too slow, too soft, and that idiot overlaying it.

However, last night (ACL vs Beijing) at the end of the game, as everyone celebrated, it was spot on! It is a shame not enough of us sang along in the festivities. It is probably when it is played that makes it work.

You'll never walk alone is a shit song, slow and soppy and ridiculous. Still works. Same with Blue Moon, You've Lost that Loving Feeling, and I'm Forever Blowing f**king Bubbles for that matter.

This is the first time it's been given a proper go, with the club kicking it along. It's not going to be to everyone's tastes, but to quote The Simpsons:

Focus Group Guy: [after showing the kids some Itchy & Scratchy cartoons] Okay, how many of the kids would like Itchy & Scratchy to deal with real life problems like the ones you face every day?

[the kids cheer]

Focus Group Guy: And who would like to see them do just the opposite, getting into far-out situations involving robots and magic powers.

[the kid kids cheer again]

Focus Group Guy: So you want a realistic down-to-earth show that's completely off the wall and swarming with magic robots?

[the kids all chat at once about it being a great idea]

Milhouse Van Houten: And, also, you should win things by watching.

Focus Group Guy: [sighs]

No thanks. Prefer almost anything else.

Is it correct that Heart play it at their matches too?

Maybe Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis? Simple and easy to sing along to.
