Pffft it's just a ploy to make Gerrard look passable among international midfielders :vomit: :piralaugh:

Give it up, seriously.  Gerrard is better than any Everton player outside of Cahill could hope to be.  Honestly man, if you ever want to be taken seriously as a football writer or whatever it is you do, then adopt some neutrality for once and accept that in actual fact, Gerrard is quite excellent.  Fark's sake.

To be fair, that's physically impossible (if indeed you are talking about the outside-side of the barn).

Gerrard is quite simply the outstanding English midfielder of his generation.

He can rank himself alongside players such as Haynes (AKA The Maestro), Peters, Hoddle etc

Tim Cahill, good player that he is, is not in that league by a very big margin

Please Hutcho, go and play for Malta - get a contract with a Maltese club as well. You would be an absolute star in Malta. While we are at it - see if Caceres, Huke, Osman, Kwasnik, Macallister and Mrdja have any Maltese background; we could ship the lot off all at once. Maybe McKinna could coach in Malta as well!

Why not do that? Then next game we can show up with 11 players, no reserves, youth team on the pitch, with no manager...

Maybe we could scrape a 10-0 defeat out of that....

5-0 or 10-0 doesn't matter. Both scores are a disgrace. We deserve better than the current team/management are giving. Give some youth a real go; at least there's a chance they will get better over time.

I guess I tend to see things from a heavily technical point of view- the mark of class, for me, are things such as passing accuracy, deft touch, technique, making your own time and space and controlling the game.

These things are what great playmakers all have, players who are artists and not machines. That's what we need to put a strong emphasis on in player development, players who have that touch and technique, players who have that time on the ball to make things happen. Otherwise what's the point if that art is lost? You need to watch what a Hoddle, Brady, Antognoni, Platini or Cardeosa were able to do, and then you'll understand.

My emphasis is on natural ability first, before everything else. It's what we should isntill into our kids through creative coaching programs. There are certain arts to playing creative roles (geniuses), and certain arts to play destructive roles (hard men).

Are Malta really that shit/desperate that they want him in the team??   Honestly??

The thought of him man-marking Ronaldo makes me cringe, laugh, and fear the final scoreline all at once.  Oh my.

Yesm. They're seriously that shit. Parents went to Malta last year and learnt that the team is not even semi-professional although there have been a few notable players such as Mifsud as mentioned and myself. Im predicting a call soon.

Im sure I can man mark Ibrahimovic out of the game.

Fair enough - we don't really get that much coverage of the Maltese leagues over here.

They haven't exactly got a huge population to choose from.I went there on holiday about 22 years ago.We hired a car , filled it with petrol and used it every day for 2 weeks. It still had more than half a tank in it when we took it back.If I remember correctly you could drive from one end of the island to the other in about 20 mins.

Central Coast Mariners midfielder John Hutchinson is still trying to sort out paperwork ahead of signing for the Maltese national team.

The Australian-born Hutchinson is eligible to represent Malta due to his grandmother hailing from the nation but has found it difficult to clear the documents he requires.

We are just trying to get through all the paper work which has been a little bit tougher than what we first expected, said Hutchinson.

My wife is acting as my secretary and she has been doing all the work for me so hopefully she can get it all sorted with the Maltese government and the Maltese consulate in Australia so Ill be free to play for them.

Hutchinson said although he would love to play for Australia, he could not let this opportunity pass.

Obviously my first preference would have been Australia but now the opportunity with Malta has come up I think it is the right time in my career, he added.

In international football Ill be playing against some of the worlds best players and some of the greatest international teams.
