ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

For arguments sake - let's assume there's one game other than Canberra going elsewhere.

Where would you want it?

Second Canberra game?
Geelong again?
Central West - Dubbo, Bathurst or Orange?
North Coast?
Queensland?
South Coast?
Southern Sydney?
Antarctica?
The Moon?

i`d go somewhere like Orange.
Great town, great wineries, plenty of quality restuarants , nice pubs & my son lives in Milthorpe 15 mins away :overheadl:

I'd be happy with the Central West (as a reward for the connection with the Western Mariners) but I'm not sure how the cost/reward would stack up for the club.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we will play Brisbane at Robina Stadium. I think ex Roar CEO Eugenie Buckley was working with the Gold Coast Council to put together a strategy to re-launch a Gold Coast side in line with the next media deal. I would not be surprised if the Council stumps up cash for us to move a home game there against Brisbane to 'prove' to the FFA that there is support in the region. Realistically we will not bring that many, although a Gold Coast weekend would be very tempting.

I hope we have plenty of local pre-season games this year. I've enjoyed going to Sefton & North Ryde in seasons gone by.

Wollongong maybe

Wollongong consortium wanting "IN" to the HAL/working in conjunction with the Illawarra regional bodies, both I would think, would be just as happy to pay similar $$'s GC would for the same opportunity-game like this to also showcase their regions ability and intentions.

With Wollongong's history in the old NSL, coupled with our previous game down there also put into consideration - playing the 2nd game there would attract a bigger turn out of punters than playing Brisb. at Robina imo.

I know that we recieved a payment for the Geelong game against Melb.Victory but I'm pretty sure MV took the gate receipts for what was a good turn out from the locals as well as travelling Victory members. Could be wrong but that's some extra coin for the coffers.

In addition Victory were definitely flogging all of their Club Merchandise both pre in the days before & at the game, bringing in even more $$'s.

I know CCM would be lucky to sell 3 scarves worth of merch in an area wanting it's own A-League team, (in fact I wouldn't bother wasting money trucking stuff down there or staff to sell it), BUT a deal with a $payment$ like Geelong +PLUS gate reciepts from a bigger crowd might be more to Charlesworth's liking.

I dont care where they take it. If we have to move a home game, I'd prefer to maximize the cash that the club can squeeze out of the venture. I'm not looking to have a romantic weekend away... or help some other region get a team. They can play it on the moon, so long as the $$$'s are right. We got $100K from Geelong last season. If we can replicate that, and no other option can give us more than that, then back to Geelong for mine. We're prostituting ourselves here... like any self respecting hooker, we're in it for the money, not for the pleasure.

I wasnt implying that playing the game in Wollongong could help them with getting a team.

More so, that their wanting a team would mean a higher likelihood of more $$$'s offered to us to play plus higher likelihood of bigger crowd = $'s.

I'm also 'all about the dollar'$' for these games NOT the nice away-trip.

Adelaide CEO Grant Mayer tweeted yesterday he received a preview of his side's fixture so I can only assume a fixture announcement is imminent...

Let me guess we will get the 5:00 Saturday games and the early Sunday games... our only late start on Saturday night will be against WSW and maybe a late Friday against SFC.

I do wonder aloud the long term effect on crowds and sponsors and rating of always having our home games on at the shiiitttest times of the weekend...

Thu I could be surprised and we get lots of good time slots...

As the 3 closest clubs to our proximity WSW, SydFC & Newcastle games SHOULD NEVER be scheduled for Friday night games against us.

They're the games that DO BRING AWAY FANS & thus should be sceduled on either Sat or Sundays to allow reasonable travel time.

Vice versa, when we're to play those 3 at their home grounds, if the frickin FFA want to see Coasties making the trip North and South.

Grow the game, DON'T KILL IT !
