Gold Coast vs Central Coast

If only Sainsbury scored instead of hitting the post! 4 debutants scoring all 18 or under (I think) !!

Great performance. Congrats to the young boys for stepping up. There is a lot to be proud about in the future for the Mariners. Other clubs will be sniffing around now so I really hope we can hang on to our great talent.

Interesting ....

GA has some interesting decisions .... youth or experience...

From tonight's game ..... Amini, Ibini, Duke, Sainsbury ... or .... Perez, Matty, Kassie, Pedj....

Then no choice here as the answer is clear ... Griffiths .. or ... Hutch ... gotta be Griffiths

Finally for late in the season or next year ... Ryan .. or ... Vanstrattan

Then throw in Oliver Bozanic at only 21 ... and Lewis at only 18 as well on the bench tonight...

Hope we can hope this side together for a couple of years...

Super effort by Kids FC, ably supported by the older, experienced heads.

Keep this going and we may have to alter our logo:

That performance was just simply stunning!!

Arnie blew everyone away with his team selection & at the start, I thought he was just "resting" players & pinning his hopes on the Derby game.

The way the young guys played was inspiring but on top of that the experience of Wilko,Dutchy,Hutcho & McBreen (yes McBreen)really came to the fore.

I know I`ve given McBreen some stick on here but tonight was his best game for us.That was the type of performance I`ve wanted to see from him all season.

It was also great to see the comraderie of the guys celebrating together.Absoluetly priceless!

Credit also to Hutcho who, after the game, was seen celebrating with the "young guns"

The only downside was Ryan not getting the clean sheet record & with such an abundance of talent up front I think we will gradually see the demise of Kwassie.

Congratulations ARNIE. "WHO DARES WINS"

Great work by Hutch giving Musti support when he was getting lectured by the ref.
McBreen played well tonight also, gets a half-assist for Bernie's goal. He had some other nice touches (in amongst some crud).
Mitchell Duke sure knows how to put the ball in the net. Suckered Moss to go the wrong way then drills it.
Great work by the whole team. Now we can monster the Scum without having to worry about the double-chance.
Griffiths was left out because of card trouble, so I doubt we'll see him Sunday either. Does the card count get re-set for finals?

Now these kids have been seen strutting their stuff and coming up with the goods, showing how good they are and will be. Other clubs will no doubt be interested in signing them up SOOOOO, I think NOW is a good time for the Mariners to get in first & sign them up to a contract. Lets secure their future and that of the Mariners with a youthful side for the coming years.

Right now.... proud to be a Mariners supporter. This year was meant to be a "rebuilding" year... how our expectaions have been well and truely surpassed!! Bring on the finals, and I'll make the call now.... we will beat Roar in the GF to take our first Toilet Seat!! :eek:verhead:

Disappointed it was Smeltz who got their goal. Almost his only touch, except for the three times Musti pulled his pants down.
I don't rate Smeltz, he can't create his own goals, he's good at putting them away when they're set up on a plate for him but stop that and he's nothing. Obviously GCU saw that too and didn't offer him a longer contract.
Compare Danny Allsopp's goal the other weekend - fought for the ball, turned around a couple of opponents and drilled it. Smeltz tried that last night & an 18-year-old took it off him.

“Sweet Dreams are made of this” sang Annie Lennox a long time ago; the refrain still rings true today. Bernie Ibini-Isei must have dreamed of scoring on his run on debut, the dream spectacularly came true; Mustafa Amini has been dreaming for weeks now of opening his A League account, beautifully, his dream came true, too; and then there was Mitchell Duke, who could barely have had time to dream but, sitting on the bench, must have dreamed of coming and scoring. His dream came true with all the coolness of a master finisher.
When I saw the run on side I worried we might let Gold Coast challenge us for second spot but not for nothing are they named Fold Coast. The Mariners were not as fluent as against Adelaide but, inspired by the combination work of Bozanic and Rose they took control of the game. Bernie’s finish from good work from McBreen and Rose was Torres-like and from that point on until Gold Coast’s late flurry there was only one team in it. Amini was playing like Perez, drifting in and out of the game, but when he got the ball the passing was crisp and none more so than when he sublimely passed the ball into the net for the second. We scrambled and covered so well in defence that GCU did not have a corner in the first half and Ryan not a save to make until the 65th minute.
Mitchell Duke’s performance has me scratching my head as to why we have invested in Michael Baird; his finish was all class, his movement off the ball was excellent and his touch was good, and although he, and Bernie, have to adjust to the physical nature of first team football you would think the potential is there. Seriously hope we hang on top these two young guns.
The Mariners made an emphatic statement last night following the one against Adelaide – they are genuine contenders for the A League crown. Bring on the Finals! :eek:verhead:

Mom – Rose 3 points – tireless and inventive throughout
Bozanic 2 points – tight control, a major player in our midfield
McBreen – heavily involved, led the line well

Now that was great to watch and thought we totally owned Fold Coast.

Hats off to Arnie and Mossy.

Ryan 7.5. Excellent
Sainsbury 6.5. Pretty good and a massive improvement from the car wreck that was his Sydney game. A little sus defensively at times but good going forward.
Wilko 7. Solid
Dutchy 7.5. Really professional performance. Arnie should show every defender a tape of Dutchy game to explain the art of positioning and timing and reading the game.
Rose 7.5 Excellent.
WeeMac 7. Good game.
Hutcho 7. Very solid game. On that performance you would love to keep him in the squad.
Amini 7. Lovely to see him break his duck. You have to love this kid and some of his touches and movement were first class.
Bozanic 8. My MOM. Worked like a buzz saw and showed he is a future leader. Sadly couln't score in a brothel. I'm tipping him to score the winner in the GF and Forum Pheonix to win thousands backing it!
Bernie 7. Great Debut and lovely finish.
McBreen 7. Good game and worked his arse off.

Subs were all brilliant, even Doig's one touch was quality.(Give more than 30 secs next time Arnie ya bastard)

MOM 3pts Bozanic
2pts Rose
1pt Dutchy and Ryan

Arnie's interview on Fox (on the foxsports website) is all class - he not only praises the kids but gives due credit to the senior players - Wilko, Patrick, Hutch and McBreen - who he describes as leading the young team (NYL plus Bozanic and WeeMac) around the park
