GLORY v MARINERS

I doubt Perez is ready for a first 60 mins and Musty has really grown into his role; I would start Musty for 60-70 mins then give Perez another run.

All I am hoping for is the same attitude that saw us belt Wellington 3-0; Welly and Perth are two very tough away games and in the past I have seen us look without energy or enthusiasm (eg the first game away to Welly, 0-2) but I think Arnie has them on the right track. Whilst not expecting a Sydney performance I am expecting good attacking football and a win with Kwas putting in another top performance.

If GA won't play Arnie and Musty same time, I'll take Perez for the first 60 please.
I would love to see arnie give himself a run, but agree with him, playing at the same time as a 17 yr old would make him look REALY old!

Hope we win and hope Burns & Co do not hurt Amini or Perez .... Perth are a very physical team and Burns is close to the direst player in the league..

Roy,

With Perez playing 30 mins last week, I don't think 60 is an unreal expectation, can always take him off at half time or 50/55. I love Musty. But Perez is still of another level as yet I believe. We need him to start to build and gel with the team - ideally before we hit our big home run of games where it will be critical to pick up maximum points.

MF, fears of Perth's physical nature do worry a little don't they. HATE to see Musty or Perez get hacked down. And Burns makes tackles that could end seasons far too often for my liking also.

i think perez is the difference between being a very good side and maybe playing in the GF .to being a great side and winning the comp . forget broich if this guy can ever get fit then roarsaloana can be paid back in kind

Perez needs to come of the bench for the next couple of games at least. It was apparent when he come on last week that he was lost. We are now playing a more cohesive passing style than earlier in the season and Perez kept getting in the road of our players.

It will take him a few goes to get used of this style and we have an adequate replacement in Amini.

In saying this I agree with the opinions of some people on this forum in that if we want to go to the next level we need Perez as a starting regular. What he also gives us is quality in set pieces. I cannot remember ever having so many freekicks in our attacking third and we have butchered so many of them through poor execution.

Our corners have been pretty good but our freekick delivery substandard.

Perez also hangs onto the ball for too long and sorta trips on it as open doors close on him. Musty is sizing up options very quickly and taking a good one straight away.

Lawrie confirmed today Hutch left behind, injured his knee training on Friday apparently.

Almost certain lineup now, one would think. We should know not long after 6pm CC Time

Well made points Mick, and I have thought upon them, but I still disagree that Perez needs to come off the bench for awhile.

The fact he seemed to be somewhat out of sync with the team (though I still felt he made some fantastic touches within 30 mins)
is exactly the reason why I feel he needs to be playing as much game time as possible - and preferably starting.

When you say he looked "lost" to me it was as much or more about the team using him/being used to his positioning and play, as it was of him being aware of the teams structure and play. Several times he was wanting and expecting the ball - he was gesturing during and after - but did not receive it when I thought it was the right option.

But really thats moot for me in any case, because whichever way you split it they are both arguments imo that support him starting not playing off the bench (providing he is now fit enough).

If he was a player needing confidence, trying to step up, or as mentioned still physically recovering or building... then off the bench - last 30 is the right call.

However, if he's fit enough to start, (which I'm guessing he now is) we already know he's talented enough, and that he is our best #10 option - surely the most important thing becomes building the aforementioned cohesion of the team which requires Perez on.

And imo this is far better achieved for any player by being in the starting lineup than coming off the bench in the last 30. Also better against an out of form side like Perth as compared to GCU next week.

Coming off the bench last 30 with Amini playing 60 will do more to cement our players being used to Musty than Perez. Have to bit the bullet at some point, so if he's fit enough, for mine, he gets the start.

Anyhow thats how I see it.
