ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

GA and the Russians

Ok that Arnie take on things was just plain weird.

We were totally and utterly dominated in the first half. Then troubled and I think edged them for about 25 minutes of the second.
And that's it. I thought our dreaded GF performance against them was infinitely better for one. As was the 2-2 SF.
Our win this year was pretty ugly... but still you'd surely have top say a better performance.
Has me weirded out with this one. I can't see it as being even a semi decent mind game either.

Only hearsay but from what I have been told by one person the "Russians" have been in Australia for 10 years! They are a Russian business consortium, it is rumoured they have walked away but I can't confirm this.

I think they are still in, i'm sure they are far more interested in the income of the COE long term then the 1 season of losses with the mariners.

The Russians that we have seen have been in Australia for a lot longer than 10 years. They have done a lot of business between Australia and Russia. Whether it is their money or someone they are representing is the question. The reported connections to Spartak suggest they are representing someone.

As to the state of the deal I have no idea. The worry for me is that they are based in the western suburbs.

The Western Sydney part I feel will pose no issue, as i suspect FFA would be rather shy to hand over Unicorn FC so soon to another single entity.

As to the deal going through. After the issues with Palmer + Tinkler Vs FFA, any investor, Russian or otherwise would shy away from risky projects in Australian football.

The Russians in Australia have been around long enough not to be put off by Palmer and Tinkler. I suspect that if they are representing anyone they wouldn't be worried by the likes of Palmer and Tinkler.
