ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

On the Marquee point and selling out. Beyond world superstars who it is pointless discussing, surely the only person who could come close to doing that is Timmy? I don't think Timmy will come back here anytime soon if possibly ever at all myself. And I just can't think of anyone else who would fit the bill? So enlighten me please? I don't think we'd sell out with Schwarz and Neill combined, and what other footballers has the average Australian on the Central Coast ever heard of bar Rooney, Messi and Ronaldo?

And even then it still wouldn't surprise me too much if I found myself going, "wow, I really though we might sell out once Rooney's became a Mariner"

maybe on NYE

;)

Thats the name i was thinking of as the only person able to sell out our stadium. No other player would come close, even superstars.

This is not saying i think theres a snowflakes chance in hell of that ever happening (or that i would approve of him leaving Everton) just that he would be the only one with the profile here in Australia able to do it.

Karl Fredrik "Freddie" Ljungberg has been linked to the Central Coast on WSFM

I thought you were taking the piss, but article here :headbounce:

Someone like that could be really good IMO. Someone maybe unknown to people who don't live and breath the sport every day, but can do some special things on the pitch. They mentioned Dwight Yorke in that article, he was great for Sydney and I doubt many other than hard core (Australian) football fans would have heard of him before he went to Sydney. Whenever DY was near the ball I used to hold my breath because something was always about to happen!

Having said that... the whole league has made massive improvements since then. Whoever comes in wouldn't be able to sit back and take the piss and still be a star.

All this marquee player talk has to be a good sign though, hasn't it? Much better than wondering if the players are going to get paid. :eek:verhead:

Maybe a deal has gone through but they are waiting for after the finals to make an announcement?

It would be a massive boost in confidence - both the team and the supporters - if the announcement was made on the eve of the finals rather than after the finals.

This is why it's got me so excited. Turnbull wouldn't be making statements about marquee players if we were still poor. Good signs!!

Really... a Marquee? Squad player thanks. Has not achieved anything since he was cut by Arsenal. Injury prone and 34 years of age. Money could be better spent on a better Marquee

Hello.

Freddie to the right, Ibini to the left and Rogic in the middle on attack. Would be impressive. A right side of WeeMac, Freddie & Bogic would be lush.

Everyone heard Arnold say he has had interest from Asia.

BUT

he tempered it with "it will take something very special to get me to move from the Mariners. I love coming to work here"
= lots of cash+ apartment+car+ food and other expenses+ travel for family + his desired support staff!
