ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

And Dannys! Did anyone think we would go this well at this stage? I can be honest and say I never gave the mariners a thought until V3 ....

In which regard? on the pitch after making the CWC qualifying tournament final the results on the pitch have reflected how I thought we would go at that stage.

off the pitch we have far out stripped my expectations for 4 seasons down the track

There are few players more capable of destroying an opposition defence in Australia than Melbourne-born winger John Hutchinson. After enjoying a highly successful eight-year long spell in the NSL with the Eastern Pride and Northern Spirit, Hutchinson?s signature may well prove to be one of the Central Coast Mariners most significant. In his NSL years, Hutchinson, 25, matured into one of the country?s most potent left sided players still playing in Australia. In three years on the north shore with the Spirit, Hutchinson struck 12 goals from midfield in 77 starts, playing a major role in helping the Spirit to two of their most memorable seasons. Many Australian football pundits are miffed as to how this quick and fleet footed attacker has avoided representative duties thus far in his career, although hopes are high that in 2005/06, the Mariners will be the ones to benefit from one of the country?s most pleasant to watch midfielders.
1) destroying opposition defences- lol, not the hutcho i know...
2) winger- wow for someone sloww i am surprised
3) speed- wat speed? is there another hutcho?

A world-class player such as Pondeljak has no shortage of supporters willing him on to a national team recall and should he produce the same form he displayed with the Glory in 2003/04, such a recall may not be too far away.
hmmm world class player
I doubt u could consider many aussie players (if any) to be world class?
IMHO of recent era
Kewell, Viduka, Cahill, Moore, Neill, Scharzer + Bosnich
Too many - not enough?
I dunno
I mean when i think world class- it's a player most clubs/countries would liek to have
not all thos players even qualify for that
let alone Pondeljak- poor journalism
NB: This isn't tommy bashing
even my beloved Jedinak isnt world class (yet ;))

From such a start.... question what squad would win ... the Hal 1 or the Hal 4.

Assuming fully fit squads? Do we include disco in a team from season 1?

We kept 5 clean sheets in that season we already have 3 this season so I think defence is about the same possibly we were a little better with Meggsi but not a great deal and I think our offensive stocks are a lot more potent now than Season 1. No jedi or a player of that style in season 1.

would probably go this season.

I wouldn't call Pondeljak "world class" but he's definitely been a class act in this league, a type of player that we really need more of in this country. Nick Carle of course is in that category, and in the NSL days there was Oscar Crino (one of the most gifted Australian players ever), Troy Halpin and Gabriel Mendez. Caceres has stepped up since joining the Mariners, so he counts too. See, these are all footballers, not athletes or cloggers.

Much less known is Robbie Puca, an ex-teammate of Hutchinson at Gippsland, playing in the WA State League where he's regarded as the most natrally talented player there. Some local fans wonder why he's never been picked up by the Glory as he'd probably be better than what they've had so far :headbutt

Crawley would have been the difference. No way Matty could of slid one past him

Yeah...but back then we didn't care. We were just delighted and blessed to have a Central Coast team. Any success was a bonus, and the boys pulled together in the back half of V1 to deliver that bonus!
