ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Is everyone that's heading down going to both functions?
At effectively $20 for the pre-match and $50 for the post-match function, it would be good to have a bit more information about what was being offered. But if most of the travelling fans are heading to both then the cost is justified on FOMO reasons alone ?

Includes shirt as well which is valued around $30. I have booked both. Not missing any chance for full immersion in the finals experience.

Ah yes another technicality that fits the narrative of the Melbourne Victory redemption story.
The glorious Popa overhaul which saw the cellar dwellars restored to previous glory and a COVID ridden fan base which really needed something to cheer about welcome back their new found freedom with an FFA cup victory!

Yep, Cummings won't play. ?
Take a shot for every time the commentators find a way to tie in the plight of Melbournians under their "leadership" with the fortunes of MV last season- and then go on about their resurgence.

We're doing the same. The only thing that I am unsure about the is Cat B ticket and where it is in the stadium. I have been to AAMI before and it's fantastic, but I still don't want to be stuck in the corner.

Also, is there a general indication of how many people going (if that's even possible)? I have a 9am flight so I am happy to meet up earlier if others are. I will surely have a few quiet ones elsewhere before making my way to Young and Jackson.

I should point out, first up, that of the CCM Grand Final appearances, the one I felt most pessimistic about leading in was the one against WSW. They were the feel-good story of Aussie football- of Australian sport- in 2012/13 and I was certain the FFA would do everything to milk that fairytale for every last drop, culminating in their winning the double in their DEBUT SEASON because making sure that narrative manifested trumped making sure the GF was as controversy-free as possible.

We know how that turned out...

Saying that, the FFA would love the whole "Melbournians and the Victory- coming out of the abyss together!" feel good story, starting with them winning the FFA Cup in front of a sold out AAMI Park.

That would be the first step. The next step is to do everything possible to line up a Melbourne City v Victory GF. Of the 4 "power clubs" in the A League:

SFC
Turds
WSW
City

WSW are a basket case and have been for some time now. The "Big Blue" has become almost ubiquitous. 3 GF's contested between the two now, and the premise of SYDNEY FC VERSUS MELBOURNE VICTORY! IN A GRAND FINAL!!!!! has lost its' novelty somewhat.

So that leaves one fixture for the FFA to really milk...

The Melbourne derby.

And what better season to do it than this one, with Melbournians back at the football and the Turds resurgent after the embarrassment of last year?

As we speak, FFA officials are stroking it to the thought of a Melbourne derby GRAND FINAL!!! AT A SOLD OUT MCG!!! MELBOURNE!!!!

Like my pessimism leading into the 2013 GF however, I would welcome the FFA proving me wrong on all of the above!

Why have we been shafted to the corner? Sydney were given away bays behind the goal in their final at AAMI. Melbourne were given a home final based on a highly dubious lottery, this should be as even as possible. Shaun, is there any scope for you take this up with FA? Can they just do one right thing here?

it looks like melbourne have 2 active bays (north & south end active)

Aren't Sydney usually given the corner in Big Blues?

The corner is probably a better view than behind the goal - even if it does limit heckling.
