Rowles is out and pretty sure GG will be as well.

Fox I presume is one definite. Will Staj play Melling in the middle or bring Gordon in?

I've revised my line up & did exactly that ! ..... moving Ziggy inside to CB alongside Fox
(much prefer that than Melling playing centrally)

Thought Hatch was phenomenal against Weston, showed good pace out wide bringing the ball forward and could do the job at RB.
- but could also see Staj unfortunately starting Melling there .... as he tried him there during the multitude of rotations during the Weston 2nd half
(wasn't good )

Hatch is a natural lefty and LB, no?
I personally hate when fullbacks aren’t played on their natural side. I see hatch as clisbys back up for this season.
If Miller is fit I’d like to see him given a go next week, keeping Ziggy in normal spot.

I think we’ll look like this,

Birra
Zig Miller Fox Clisby
Kim
Silvera DDS Duric Oar
Simon (would prefer murray)

I fell like that’s going to be pretty close. Would prefer Murray as well but think we’re more likely to bring Ziggy in to CB with Fox assuming Fox is ready to play a full game. Not sure who slots in to RB or how close GG or Tongyik are to game time which would allow Ziggy to stay RB.

Backline is a bit of a shambles still unless GG is fit enough to partner Fox.

I thought Hatch was excellent against Weston also. He played LB in that second half didn’t he? Is he two footed and or usually plays RB? Team page lists him as a Midfielder.

Anyway, regardless, agree on pushing one of our backs inside vs Melling to CB.

I’d like to see Silvera given a start along side Duric (if fit) and DeSilva and Oar. Though with our backline issues, maybe there’s a case for playing a 4231 so we can place an extra defensive midfielder alongside Kim and look to grind out a win.

Up front will almost certainly be Matty. But like others I’d prefer to give Muz the start. Matty is more likely to harass the opposition, but Muz seems the more likely to link and score from open play. Visa signing or not, Matty is not the striking future of the club. Maybe Muz or Majok could be. But will never be if they don’t get their chance. These are the sort of games where they need to be given the chance to prove themselves capable. What Matty can or can’t do is well known.

I suspect we’ll see Silvera only on the bench though and Muz at right mid.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Mellon start with Kim to provide extra defensive cover owing to he shambles that is the back line.

You’ve touched on something pretty important there, sooner or later we’ll lose them to the shot at more minutes if they can’t get a half decent crack with the pecking order as is. We’ve got the weakest starting striker situation in the league at the moment. If you’re not getting minutes now what’s it going to take?

Edit: Also as far as competitive fixtures go this one is a bit of a free shot. No one is expecting much from us, media is on the Fowler hype train, no NPL loss to stress about and we’ve got two CBs injured and a visa slot to fill.

Yeah that’s exactly how I see it. Everyone will be tipping roar and they will have all the press and momentum. But still raw and they may crack.

Goal was a cracker, but his general movement/runs, touch and will to hit things early just show so badly what a true striker does and what we’ve been missing.

Great to see Macca going out on a high, he was pivotal in our our Championship Season ..... & thus one of the Yellow Legends of our Club.

He was only 5 shy of cracking the 100 games in the Y&B, shame really.

And in saying that, does anyone on here have the nous/kmow-how to change his photo on his Wikipedia page ???

I had a look and registered. However you have to have edited four articles over 10 days or something to change an image.
Maybe someone has a wiki login already or I'll have to find some pages to edit.

Simon to play wide and cover for the CBs ;). I'd prefer Silvera there but have sacrificed him to put Murray up top.

Rowles, Tongyik & Gallifuoco either injured or suspended

Bench: Majok, McGlinchey, Nisbet, Silvera, Pearce

Not selected Melling, Shabow

I was on board until I saw him tucked away on the wing. The idea of Simon being forced on the starting 11 needs to go away but if we are going to we should at least stick him up front where he might pinch something sooner or later. I can’t see him offering the creativity or energy Silvera brings. Swap him to the bench and start Silvera then I think you’re pretty close.

No defensive sub though so depending on who’s been practicing that role you might see Nisbet or weemac dropped for Melling who seems to be preferred as an option to drop in. It’s tricky though because Majok offers wing or striker coverage. Weemac AM /wing (maybe?), Nisbet (AM/DM ?). Matty is the only one who isn’t really likely to cover multiple roles outside of an extreme situation like the last game.
