Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

There was a decent turn out last night... quite impressed with Gallop as well as Charlesworth and Turnbul.

I might add some very decent questions and ideas from the floor...

Tho I would post some of the key things that impressed me.... in no particular order...

  • Australian Cup will start in July 2014.
  • Mariners expect to get the stadium rights to Bluetounge.
  • Centre of Excellence to start building again and take two and a half years to complete.
  • We will appoint coaches from within and believe we have our coaches for the next 10 years.
  • Dutchie along with Arnie will try to set up our coaching academy vis the CC Association in a similar vain to Ajex... with Dutchie to develop a system for the coaching style where each year builds on the one before and to train and manage the coaching.
  • The Mariners and the Central Coast Football school to work very closely together.
  • 99.9 percent chance we have the second spot in the ACL with MV having the half spot.
  • FFA to essentially pay the 2.5 million wages bill of each club and will make a monthly transfer to clubs to pay player wages.
  • FFA looking at ways to reduce the number of FFA sponsors that clubs cannot use similar types like a sponsor having ford.
  • From the floor a suggestion which the entire panel tho was an excellent idea was clubs to hold open days at their stadiums where fans could go round and look for a seat or seats and then go and see if they could get memberships for those seats.
  • Mariners tho they have gone off the boil in the community engagement and will do the following as a minimum-
    • Each player to be allocated a club to look after and included in this will be the player training the junior coaches.
    • 13 clubs this year and 13 clubs next year to have the Mariners go in and do a complete look at training and development of their coaches. All players all coaches will go to these.

FFA handing out wages monthly = security + now we can spend money on a marquee
&
very much looking forward to Australian Cup

these have me quite interested

we've already shown we have the best foot forward for the youth development and now for coaches. the benefits of having a system and style for our coaches, a Mariners way, cannot be understated - especially one that is helped kicked off by Arnie & Dutchy and carried on and developed by Dutchy. Goes to show how well rated Dutchy is as a coach. (Seems likely he'll be head coach within 3 years-ish? Imagining Moss gets a crack first, but if/when he leaves that is)

this is all very positive news. thanks for the heads up midfielder

FFA to essentially pay the 2.5 million wages bill of each club and will make a monthly transfer to clubs to pay player wages.

. although the words weren't completely clear ... I thought the ffa would be responsible for making the actual payment/transfer direct to the players (avoiding any administrative input from the club) so long as the player's wage was covered under the cap

I thought they said this too.

Adding to Middy's list, they are also looking at providing incentives for people to sit on the eastern side, in the full sun. Some of the suggestions being thrown around may have been tongue in cheek, e.g. sponsored sombreros, sunnies, cheaper drinks, food/drink service to your seat... but the general idea of trying to get more people into those seats is something they are looking at.

Think you are right that FFA will transfer funds directly to players...

. plan is to start it next july ... no doubt to tie in with the relevant leagues at the right time

. although any state league players representing the country at the world cup should be at peak fitness for the start of the ffa cup

I doubt FFA would pay wages directly to players as this would mean indirectly that the FFA is the employer and not the Mariners, meaning the FFA is the ones that would be liable for PAYG withholding.

I wasnt there last night so cant read between the lines of what was said. But if your paying a wage and the wage gets taxed then someone owes the tax to Julia/ Kevin/ Tony in October. Seems complex rather than FFA distributing to the Mariners to forward to players.

A majority of the recent clubs ATO debts was the PAYG tax withheld from players and staff.

. part of the problem they are trying to resolve i reckon

. as for the rest of it ... i am sure it is all above-board and will probably prove to be unnecessarily complicated :)

They said the salary cap ($2.5m) would be covered by payments from the FFA, so I assume that PAYG would be included in this otherwise the club still has to come up with a lot of money. They didn't say part of the salary cap would be covered, they said all of it would be.

They also said the FFA would be distributing money on a monthly basis instead of quarterly, and I am pretty sure they said payments would go directly to players, so there would be no more issues with players not getting paid.

I said this should happen when it was clear Fox would increase their TV deal; it is a no brainer. I think it happens in the MLS. No more nasty little (not so little) problems for clubs paying players, no bad vibes around our Mariners.

  • Mariners expect to get the stadium rights to Bluetounge. long overdue
  • We will appoint coaches from within and believe we have our coaches for the next 10 years. brilliant - developing a real culture
  • Dutchie along with Arnie will try to set up our coaching academy vis the CC Association in a similar vain to Ajex... with Dutchie to develop a system for the coaching style where each year builds on the one before and to train and manage the coaching. - the CoE can't be just about the players, it has to be about the coaches too.

  • Mariners tho they have gone off the boil in the community engagement and will do the following as a minimum-
    • Each player to be allocated a club to look after and included in this will be the player training the junior coaches. I thought we did this so if we no longer have been then glad to see it resurrected
    • 13 clubs this year and 13 clubs next year to have the Mariners go in and do a complete look at training and development of their coaches. All players all coaches will go to these. More community engagement - all good
All sounds pretty damn good to me :overheadl:

. mike and pete admitted to having 'dropped the ball' regarding the community engagement 'stuff' in recent years and were looking to address that

. the supporters club have been pushing these issues ... it seems they are listening

Isn't there some opposition to getting the stadium rights?

Lawrie would have to abstain when council decide and I think some council members are opposed.

Means the final death for NRL on the Coast (unless we allow them to rent from us for their one off games) I would imagine it will be vigorously opposed.

Bloody brilliant if we can do it though

Cant see why the club wouldnt continue to let league play there?

Fixtures would only happen when it suited the club, and would be the NRL paying the mariners.
Only issue i can see is that the NRL clubs probably dont pay much rent, and the mariners would want to make money off it.

If CCM gets control of the stadium, I hope they repaint the seat backs in the western stand so they don't spell "BEARS".

A very good night.
Well run, informative & exciting to finally see where the club is heading.

One very important point that seems to have been missed (sorry Middy) is the rise & importance of Simon Fisher.
He`s outstanding work (along with others) has been recognised & the power of the Yellow Army is to be enhanced & encouraged.
I`m sure Simon will welcome any new ideas to make the gameday experience that much better.

I, for one ,would like to see the YA have more imput into the running of the big screen at games.
Video clips of ex-players eg. the Korean kids video for Tom Rogic would be great to see at the games
Words to songs /chants etc. would also go down well.
