Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

SFC can't, at this stage, make a transfer offer for him as he's still under contract with us. As I understand it, currently no transfers between A-League clubs are allowed.

I think GA's would've severed ties with Vegalta considering the circumstances of his exit, so I'd doubt they'd purchase Wee-Mac from us on GA's behalf, only to see him be swooped on by SFC.
I understand A League clubs can't transfer to each other - Has to be release & sign.
But while WeeMac is in Japan on loan is he considered theirs of which they could loan him out without our permission during the stint or if they agree to purchase is it a matter of say paying a certain sum of money by a certain date to trigger the buy contract (which SFC might get them to do & then pay double to Japan to transfer him).

GA didn't really leave on that bad a terms from Japan. Not happy hugs but nothing SFC MONEY couldn't fix if he wanted something of ours via them.

I don't think they could really loan him to SFC while he's on loan there... And even if they actually could, he's due back here for the upcoming season so there's no point. Yes I understand that Vegalta could make us a transfer offer (which we don't necessarily have to accept unless there is a purchase clause in the initial loan agreement), however it's rather ludicrous to suggest that SFC would have any sort of influence over Vegalta purchasing McGlinchey.

Season 3 had an average attendance of 12,738. So 2-3 thousand have been missing for the last few seasons.
What, if any, strategies are the club going to implement to attract these people back to games?

This was on the back of the 2006 world cup euphoria with our 'golden generation'. People and theatre goers came to see this soccer business, some stayed most went on their way.

I am not quite sure of exact dates but -
Kwasaldinho joined Wellington Phoenix 2009
Mile Jedinak left for Turkey 2009
and...
2009 the Mariners ripped the heart out of the supporter base by playing two home games in a foreign venue: Canberra?
And hid behind spin about the true reasons why.

I think a lot of fans ran for the hills after "our" grand final was played at the SFS as well as the moving of games to Canberra (the game against Perth was possibly the most boring match ever!).

. was it two games or three?

. regardless ... this is what is so frustrating about them 'trying' it again ... claiming that it is a financial winner, but the long term damage to support is not considered ... and the evidence is there

. it has taken the last four years of success to try and build the crowds back up to where they were and as soon as there is talk about relocating more games ... people are spooked again

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
indeed..I knew a couple of blokes that were royally annoyed after the GF shifting and I havent seen them at a game since...maybe they moved, maybe they just had enough, who knows

Please correct and add ...

A sorta summary of questions ... with a small pre statement...

Questions to MC..

Mike on behalf of the Mariners Fans Forum ... I will summarise their questions with a one line pre statement...

The moving of matches to Canberra in Hal 9, and last seasons comments on moving the Mariners in the opinion of the MFF did significantly affect crowds.. the experience of the Northern Eagles a RL side is still felt deeply on the CC.

Questions...

Are their plans to move games away from BT and if so for what reasons ?

What crowd average does the club need at BT to make the club viable and [ how do games at NSO or BO make us more viable ... may have been answered above] ?

GA what access does he have to our juniors and what if anything can be done to protect us from his poaching ?

MM is he returning?

Any news on new players ? and are any-more players being released?

Can somebody ask for me:
With regards to memberships, will there be an option for interstate fans where they can buy a membership pack that would include a handful of home games as well as all interstate games in that state?

Hope it's not too late :/

How can we increase the amount of actual coasties in our team in the future?
Is this even a goal?

Early signs were good; Damien brown, Matty Simon, brad porter, andrew redmayne, matthew trott and olly bozanic

But we haven't signed a "new coastie" for a few years

Not to mention we have lost out on joe Gibbs, chris Payne and James holland.
