ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Yeah, I'm not going to take Charlesworth's statement for more than I think it's meant. A show of carte blanche support/commitment. Which is definitely helpful at this juncture I think. Means TW can lose while he tries to get things right without copping all the will his head roll conjecture and pressure... This will give the players and coach confidence to move ahead as planned and develop, and not start to panic and abandon ship after a couple of bad weeks.

But in wining it's the coach and players that matter. TW and the players obviously want to do well, s0 really it all just breaks down to is play attractive football and try and get results is the aim - whereas play unattractive and maybe get results is not acceptable.

Re metrics, yeah think that might be pretty astute.
Moss was is the press this weak saying Gallop's intent to "fish where the fish are" etc, was clearly something that all smaller HAL clubs not just the Nix need to worry about. But Gallop is not stupid, he wants to grow in the big markets, (which is fine) but also that it's not good for the HAL to just become sydney vs Melbourne. So unsure how I feel about SFC's melt down about a possible 3rd SYd team as yet. Seen their claims about south sydney membership base, but if they can't prosper with the numbers still in their catchment, maybe they should stop being such a pack of wankers and change their approach. They have been such an unlikeable club for the most part. (At least that's how they've come across to me Dibo)

Anyway, for mine it's South Coast Wolves or Canberra that should be the next license.

Or Tassy.

I like Tassy... and has to happen one day you'd hope. But South Coast makes a lot more sense for now. Cost and travel time to clubs, no derbies etc...

I like Tassy too, as long as it plays out of Hobart. I'd get free accommodation then, plenty of rellos in and around Hobart.

The Tassie 'Timber Cutters', just rolls of the tongue despite it planted firmly in my cheek.

Like it, cutting down the opposition's tall timbers. :)

Speaking of the opposition, they should apply now to to register their preference to be the'all Greenie' club of the A-League in regards to their club colours. :D

Canberra’s W-League team play in green. Would hate to see a mens team do the same.

Can see it now, aoutocrats turning up in 'Raiders' NRL jerseys and caps thinking they're supporting the team, instead of buying the club's official merch.

Most of the higher end public servants follow rugby or Aussie rules. NRL for the workers, not the shinybums.

Oh look, everybody is hating on CCM. Because that hasn't been the case since before the first ever HAL match!!!

Entertainment vs defence is a false comparison, IMO. Our biggest problem in defence isn't numbers - it's basics. Marking. Actually bothering to move and not stand still watching the attacker 5 yards away from you. Stuff like that. Sort that out and our games will be a little tighter.

Every formation and playing style has a compromise somewhere. I understand that ours is going to have a compromise in that our defenders may get outnumbered, but when we've lost goals it's not because we lacked the leadership to deal with a fast counter - it's because our defenders just simply weren't doing what they're supposed to do - or for that matter, what every U/12 player knows they're supposed to do. If our defenders were leaking goals from getting caught on the back foot then maybe the 'entertainment at the cost of winning' debate may hold some water. But that's not where the goals are coming from, so IMO people drawing those comparisons don't have a clue what they're talking about. Putting 2 and 2 together and getting Purple.

Yes but i think our shots on target percentage is the worst in the league. Im loving our intent but want to see two things....

1. Quality finishing.

2. Above 10yo level defending.

Yep, there is that. I raised the question in the City thread about whether it's too early to start being concerned about our finishing.
