I agree with Bex that Danny's a better mid-long term investment, but considering how many people expect him to disappear overseas as soon as he can, perhaps he isn't much of an investment.  So if you're looking at a season or two, I'd prefer Bozza...

A sensible ref who didnt lose his head and complete control of the game would never have done the stupid thing that Shield did. He would have supported the AR who DID see the f**king handball.

He was a young man in a pressure situation and he made a wrong choice. Hardly grounds for having him drugged to control his wild outbreaks of temper.

Wasn't there an incident in the pre season when the Mariners played the Kiwi U/23 side at Wahroonga? Someone may be able to confirm or deny this, but didn't Danny gat a talking to from the ref for "behaviour unbecoming" from the bench?... Anyone recall this?

How have I made a slur? 
Jesus christ, it's not like I said he's one step away from become a raving lunatic who's going to go shoot up a school.  I said that his temper could possibly be a concern.  Stone the bloody crows!!!  How dare I!!!  f*** me, some people get worked up over nothing. 

When somebody is serving a suspension of the nature he did, then in one of the first games gets booked for having a go at the ref, it's gotta make you wonder if he's going to keep doing it.  He's obviously a firey guy - and that's one of the things we all love about him, but if the object is going to be the referee then there's a problem - key players can't afford to get sent off.

And if he gets sent off for abusing the ref then the FFA aren't going to look kindly on him at all.  Even less so if he's going to accumulate some cautions for dissent before that.  Most of the time he's fairly good as far as that's concerned - let's hope he remains that way. 

I'm trying to remember...didn't he get sent off twice in Season 2?  One was for a last man offence (which was an incorrect decisions), what was the other one for? 

Anyway, I voted yes because I think that we've still got the potential to keep Danny longer than Bozza, and Danny's still only going to improve.  I doubt he'd be stupid enough to keep collecting cards - if he started, I don't think the lads will let him get much further.

Where did you hear that the card didn't stand?  The only reason that could occur is if there's mistaken identity.

Just because I've sometimes tried to explain potential reasons for a decision given (including how the wrong one may have been reached)....I suppose it's just too easy to hate and blame rather than actually show a little bit of thought, isn't it? 

BTW: I challenge you to find where I've tried to excuse Shield for the numerous f**k-ups in the GF (such as the HB - I could hazard a guess as to how it was missed, but that doesn't justify the fact that it was, or not booking any of the jets players for starting that big fight at the end), or the inconsistency in allowing Milligan to assault him two weeks prior.  Go on, give it a shot.  If I'm such an apologist it'd have to be in there somewhere, wouldn't it?
