Danny has signed a new 3 year contract hows does everyone feel on the matter my self im happy with danny. Bozza would have been good but danny is a great keeper.
What does everyone think.

DANNY Vukovic will play with the Central Coast Mariners for a further three years. In a great boost for the young goalkeeper and the Mariners, Vukovic confirmed on Wednesday he had re-signed with the Gosford-based club until 2012.

The news comes days before Vukovic makes his return from suspension when the Mariners Youth League teams tackles Melbourne at Bluetongue Stadium, Gosford, on Saturday.

Vukovic said: "I can't wait to get out and play again, it's been tough turning up to training knowing I wouldn't be playing on the weekend.

"Signing the contract is also great news, it's good to have the security of a long term contract."

Vukovic has had a tough time of it since the Mariners grand final defeat against the Jets last year. He was suspended for striking referee Mark Shield in the decider and missed the Olympics. He was able to play the first two games for the Mariners before missing a further five Hyundai A-League games.

Vukovic said playing for the club's youth team on Saturday will give him some much needed match fitness ahead of next week's stoush with Wellington at Gosford.

Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna will have a tough selection to make in goals for the clash against the New Zealanders. Star goalkeeper Mark Bosnich is also hopeful of recovering from a hamstring injury and being available for what will be his last match for the club.

"I'll take a good look at both of them at training next week before deciding," he said.

danny is a good signing. I do not know if he will still be here by the end of his contract. He will surely be bought from us by then. But if he stays the 3 years it is great news for the mariners.

Bozza is great. But this is more prudent

Great news! Bojic has signed for another two years as well: http://news.smh.com.au/sport/vukovic-bojic-resign-with-mariners-20081009-4x6b.html

It would be great to have Bozza BUT anything could happen with Bozza over the next year or so. I seriously doubt we would get him on any sort of long term deal without throwing serious money his way. Even with a longer term deal, Bozza could leave at any time (e.g. a call up from Europe). With Bozza in the team long term, we would probably lose Danny and then, if Bozza did leave without much notice, we'll have a problem with goalkeeping depth.

Danny is the smarter, longer term choice IMO.

heres hoping he is not planning on slapping any refs this year.. He is a good keeper providing we can keep him on the pitch

Absolutely.

Both could go overseas for bigger offers, but their situations are different. I wouldn't have felt safe offering Boz 3 years right now, but I'm glad to have Danny locked in.

This doesn't have to rule out the possibility of another short-term stint for Boz (eg. during ACL), but

From that article...
With a maiden AFC Champions League campaign in mind, the Mariners have also secured beyond the current season, Nigel Boogaard, Adrian Caceres, Ahmad Elrich, Dean Heffernan, John Hutchinson, Mile Jedinak, Dylan Macallister, Bradley Porter and Matt Simon.

Are these players whose existing contracts go beyond this season, or more new extensions?

Is there anywhere we can keep track of when contracts expire?

Normally when a player starts to get praise from non-Mariners-fans (eg. Jedi and Matty in recent weeks) the pessimist in me says "he won't be round much longer", so it'd be nice to know some of the names we are likely to have for the ACL.

This is only smarter if we will make some money on him but only time will tell he has been there from season one and if he was that good he would have already gone.

He only signed for three years as there were no other offers and he is happy what he has and that he has a great keeper with him at the moment to learn something and we will find this out during his next games.

That is why he mooved up to live on the coast and when Bozza comes back from the USA Mariners will be talking to him if not before for the Champions Leauge games  see what a good keeper has done for Adelaide ???

Great news, the best news I heard all week.

As Jesus said, the three years is great, however, I am not sure if we will see him for that tenure given I see him in Europe at some stage (sooner rather than later). In any event, it's great news.

I believe Danny is the best keeper in the A-League and he will show that when he is between the posts when he returns.

In others news, I didn't know there was a Youth League game on Saturday!! I will be getting to the game to see our emerging stars and the return of Danny. I hope a lot of you guys can do the same :D

p.s. As for the Wellington match, I think Lawrie will start Bosnich and give him a "farewell". I think he will get some pressure to do as such from external powers to be truthful. I won't complain, Bozza is one of my all-time favourite players and has been in good form up until the injury.

I reckon Danny will play against the Nux to give him game time before we play the scum and SFC. No room for sentiment in football.

Mind you, if we are winning well with 10 to go, a cameo off the bench would be nice.

+1, very stupid if we don't play Danny

Absolutely, Danny must start but given my previous opinions about Bozza I have enjoyed watching him these past few games and I will miss him a our our club. Hopefully he gets that Cameo Greenpole and the whole crowd stays for a lap of honour. Would have been great to play a bigger club like the bling or scum, I feel a bigger crowd would be a better send off for the man.

Goodbye Bozza
