ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Crowd numbers...should we be worried?

I'm not worried yet. The crowds were trending up

. i have taken the scissors to your post in the interests of being a smart arse - it definitely shows an upward trend  ;)

..... we still have I think the smallest backers in money terms so money is important.
correct me if im wrong.....but arn't we one of the most sponsored sports sides in Australia and one of the best backed in the league(well atleast best organised)

. i don't know about these things but perhaps he meant our biggest backers have the smallest bank balances - ie. turnball doesn't have as much money as lowy or that new bloke on the gold coast that digs holes  :-\

Looking at the average crowds and the population in the area.

Mariners - 1 in every 200 people on the central coast are coming
Sydney - 1 in every 400 people in sydney are turning up

I dont think we should be worried> sydney should be more worried than us

300000/8000 = 1 in 37.5

5000000/15000 = 1 in 300 odd

don't know where you get your maths from harry

??? wrong guy mick, unless there is 2 harry's

I also think we are underestimating the effect that being on top had last year PLUS the acquisition of Aloi$i... A name brings people in..... Imagine Dwight or someone with that name (and yes I know Bozza has a name but he is a keeper - hurts me to say that being a keeper....)

Our next match is against QLD on December 6 on a saturday night- looking at the history if we don't crack 13K for this match (If it rains though all bets are off) then i'd be concerned.  We then have a debry against sydney the next weekend which should get 15K (rain depending)and then next stop new years eve - which should sell out if we are going well (But historically it hasn't sold out yet and may never due to people wishing to do their own thing).

Traditionally we have struggled against QLD in terms of drawing crowds, 8-9K is per normal. However, over the next two weeks who knows what will happen.

Talking about memberships and countryhick above, the memebership team next year needs to push what are known as 'non-ticketed memberships'

As far as I am concerned, the membership options (Platnium, Gold, Blue and the Bay) all work well, except for the Bay concession thingy.

Non-ticketed memberships need to be promoted. The Outrigger idea this year was a good step, with three admissions for those outside 75km from Bluetongue.

What I think we should have next year:
-Traditional - Platnium, Gold, Blue, Bay - MUST BE TRANSFERABLE
-Country/Interstate: GA entry to home 3 games, with the possibility of substituting one of these home games for one away game (where the club organises the ticket on your behalf in a CCM away bay) - AFL clubs do this and it works well
-Outrigger - for those outside 75km, entry to 3 home games
-Supporter - no game admission, but membership of the club, with member benefits (like in v.2)
- Part Time - GA entry to half of our home games that the club chooses - maybe against some low drawing teams (Welly, Perth)

CCM need to push membership as it is a source of revenue and ensures stability in the long term. 1 in 19 Australians is a member of an AFL club. With such diverse options you are able to join in a convienient category, and ensures the long term viability.

If I could afford, I'd buy membership regardless of living here.

If I couldn't afford, but I could justify it, I would still buy...by justify it, know that I would be able to get to at least half of the home games.

This "Outrigger' membership seems to be the go...can someone point me in the direction of getting that?

I miss The Bay :(

No need to panic we are averaging 9250 for the season so far.

Would love to see an add on for away games tickets to be included, maybe one for the derbies where the club organises the tickets and one for those who do interstate games. TBH I think that away tickets should be handled by the visiting club, would make it easier to look at crowd control, the alocation is secure and a standing area could be organised. would also stop us from ever having to deal with ticketmaster ever again. ;)

Doubt the Mariners would like to become away ticket sellers for Mariners fans.

Hell they didn't even want to organise buses for a large contingent of people wanting to travel to Sydney for their own Grand Final! (last year) In the end, THAT job was left to the folks at Ticketek agency and the CCLC.

I understand that the Mariners get an allocation (20 to 40 tickets) for away matches and have, in the past, given those away to travelling members, but has that happened lately?

I'm more thinking the way it works in England and for it to not be a choice but mandated that away fans need to purchase through there own club (or the appropriate agency). It would avoid situations like Qld where roar fans buy tickets in the away bay all the time.

You could ask about tickets in the past but there was no guarantee and for the majority of games on the east coast now the numbers traveling are to great for them to even consider it anymore. Plus in Melbourne Hutch takes all the tickets anyway.

Pretty simple really but that means the FFA wont cotton on until there is a massive incident.

1) Away bay ticket sales become the responsibility of the visiting club.

2) Only members are allowed to purchase (adds accountability)

3) If unsold, seats are left empty for safety reasons.

At BT, thats one bay vacant for all but games against Scum & SFC. Not too hard to organise really is it.

If the contract with Ticketek is the issue, make them the vendor and ask for club membership numbers

I think it will actually take a major incident involving the beloved sack-me fc for them to act. It is a shame that they will be reactive to it and not proactive.

I'll add a 4 to that list

4) Away fans found in the home supporters areas will be removed from the ground.

Can that also include "visiting" fans of neither side wearing their colours, saw 2 SFC shirts on Saturday.

It shits me no end at the arrogance of these wankers.

Let them pay, let them in and then throw the arseholes out.

I was near a guy with a SFC shirt. Both his kids had mariners shirts, flags & caps. Without him, the mariners lose 2 supporters.

I agree in that it wouldnt take much for him to don a neutral colour, but really, it didnt bother me at all.

In that situation i dont see it being a big problem

Throwing people out of the stadium because of their chosen attire is a bit over the top. If someone wants to wear a Glory jersey to a CCM v SFC game that is their perogative.

and when one of them makes the error of sitting next to some idiot who has a go at them or they run into trouble because of it (imagine if we were playing newcastle and all their idiots were around)................

so you would also have no objections to the people who do it at internationals either??

personally no. i woudl prefer everyone wearing a roos jersey. But am not the fashion cops. People will wear what they want. Whether it is unrelated, or mildly related (eg other teams jerseys).

Home end should be yellow though.
