Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Probably hit the nail on head adz "supporters group", unlike the back 3 rows who "abuse the players if they have a bad game but sing if they win and then abuse the players for not coming over to say thanks for the support".

Don't be a f**kwit and paint all supporters in the back three rows with the same brush. Some of us support the front of the bay, sing support, travel and sing, and have done a heap of good on the TIFO over the years. Your comments might be partly correct, but be careful how you phrase them else you'll alienate some of the support you have.

Well, I've a group of youngish kids that I allow down there on sufferance. They sit / stand somewhere in between the front uns & the back uns. They're there because they play the game, and because they cant believe their luck in having a local team in a national competition. They want to be part of something & they are the future.

This?

We need more of these to fill the bay.

Inevitable wasn't it.

Goes back to season one when there was lots of debate on the forum about swearing and sexist comments in Bay 16. Retort from some of the powers that be was "If you don't like it f**k Off!"

Well most have.

Couldn't be more wrong.  :soapbox:
In season 1 and 2 we had a small, tight knit group of mates who loved supporting their team, having a drink together, singing and having a laugh.
Then the do-gooders came along, loved the atmoshpere we created and tried to change it to suit their personal morals. A good portion of the guys that made the great atmosphere got the shits with the new way the group was run and f**ked off, leaving a quiet bunch of boring people standing round wondering what happened (the guys and gals from V1 still in bay 23 excluded)

My prediction now is that the do-gooders will move to the coastie boys and try and ruin their fun.

1st item on the agenda should be a name change. Coastie boys is sexist. We'll have "coastie people" thanks.

While we're at it, some members don't live on the coast - that's geographical discrimination. Best call yourselves "supporter people".

Seriously, good luck to the Coastie Boys - Go hard, do your team proud and don't let a few whingers ruin your fun!

Did I say a lot of good hadn't been done over the years?

The "majority" of the back 3 rows IMO were a disgrace on Saturday night, I could list all the ridiculous chants I heard but I'm not wasting my time.

IMO the abuse directed at the players was not called for considering we were sitting forth at the time and were playing what many consider to be the best team in the HAL.  Sadly last weekend wasn't the first time the negative and abusive behaviour occured, Brisbane away when we lost 1-0 is a prime example, real nice of a so called fan to call Lawrie a c**t when he's 20 yards away.

At the end of the day the only way things will change is if those people want to change, if they don't then it's their choice but don't whinge if the players show little or no respect.

Do you wanna, y'know, back that up with anything?

How do you account for our season 3 support (when apparently everyone who mattered had been scared away) was bigger and louder than anything before or since?

*Some* people apparently left, one reason being (I'm told) that they didn't like the level of coordination and direction going on as well as the fact that one or two songs weren't sung anymore. These people would have about as much in common with the Coastie Boys as trumpet boy.

You're out of your tree. Are you still that cut up that people don't sing 'tits out for the boys'? FFS...

Just for the record.

Bay 16 could be broadly categorised as 2 groups by the end.

Back 2 or 3 rows. older (generally)
Rest, younger

It caused no end of tedious threads about the style of songs, the nature of active support etc.

Now we are in 23, the only difference I can see is that a physical gap has developed and that some people crave an identity of their own.

good contribution...  :-\

i love the fact that there is good active support in the bay again, like there was over the other years of the league. i dont agree with the way that support came about and some of the things that have been done, but its still support right?

and i do lol a little inside at people complaining about player slagging and such. i know some people dislike comparisons to other countrys, but would you prefer the 7000 odd people at games booed our boys off the park like overseas? are 10-15 people out of 7000 who like to bag players out for playing bad such a concern?

This.

Tuesday night at Trafford Mick McCarthy fielded a reserve team that was subsequently slaughtered.  Many times during the game the Wolves fans chanted "we want our money back", "what a waste of money", and "we want our first team".  They even booed them off at half time.

Yet what happened at ful time??  They stood at one and applauded every last one of them, and the players came all the way over and thanked them - even though they'd been slagged (loudly) during the game.

Players should be a little bit less precious tbh.

Thanks for the correction. I tend to agree with rest of what you say. Although some of the football on display from us was very average, particularly for a game on our own turf, so I can understand the frustrations. If the fans were frustrated, I'm sure the players were doubly so.
