ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I don't know if a similar analysis has been done for the A-League

Defence and clean sheets are definitely important but even when you’re not scoring you still need to be making chances which we haven’t been doing a lot of or at least going long stretches without doing so. You can’t let the opposition get comfortable and bring their backs or key players in to the game more. Look at our game with the roar where taggart had a horrible conversion rate, they threatened and kept the pressure up. We did that under Okon for the first half of the season last year and had the 4th least goals conceded until late jan give or take a few games. Had we actually been able to finish at all we would have done much better.

When you look at the way GA has the NT set up and Poppa has Perth set up their front three are relatively narrow and so nearly always have a view to goal. Arnie plays with what under the old parlance would be an inside left, centre forward, outside right front three with the width being provided by the full backs. Poppa is slightly different in that he plays with twin strikers with Ikonomidis back slightly behind them.

We notionally played with 3-4-3 against Perth but even apart from the execution of passes through the team our front three was a lot wider with only 1 usually having a view to the goal.

Nash. Constantly bringing gash keepers to the central coast.

Interesting rumours Gauci sucks. He was billed as the next big thing in the announcement. Surprise it’s more BS

Who told you he sucks? I haven't seen him in a game but at training he looks like a good shot stopper and organiser.

Had a fella criticise the pod for being too negative. Were we? I felt like we were more than fair. What's the point of pretending it's all sunshine and rainbows?

Of course it was. What is there to be happy about. I don’t think anyone had a good game.

Could of maybe spent sometime on ONeill goal as that was a sweet strike but there really wasn’t alot to be happy about apart from somehow getting to 2-2 and almost holding on until the brain fades took over again

Well, it certainly wasn't positive.....but I think the negativity is fair and justified. You just called it how you saw it. And at the end of the day you guys are fans, and you feel how you feel.

Might have been the stuff about basically giving up all hope for years that they took offence to.

See, how everyone seems to be feeling is how I've been feeling in recent weeks. Only this week I feel strangely optimistic. There was something in that Perth game that suggested we may yet turn it around, although it would likely be a slow burn.

The crowd numbers will be interesting on Saturday. 5,000ish?

It was very negative. But there’s plenty to be negative about and not a lot of positives right now.

That said definitely prefer your analysis than your despondency, regardless of the result.

If sitting on the fence is negative ........ and mostly answering direct questions with just cliches ............. you actually avoided answering their questions more than you answered.
Like you say “what’s the point of pretending .......”

Love the fact that you guys are being honest about the situation surrounding the club, Wouldn't have it any other way negative or positive.

I've re-read this a number of times, and still have no idea what you're trying to say or reference to.

I listened to the podcast as josh said.
If you did you would be able to reference my comments .......... I assume you have reasonable comprehension skills ......... more than you have displayed so far this thread.
