FFS Kwassie!!!

Absolue brothel of a game!!!

If you can't see what Fozzie is on about after the first 3 games that you are truely blinded by your feelings for the club.

That wan't good, neither side showed anything that screamed "WE WANNA BE CONTENDERS"

Danny- Didn't have a great deal to do(point blank save from Aloi$i aside), but was solid enough

Porter- Great in attack, which is what we've come to expect, but I'm wondering if having him at right wing as opposed to right back might be an idea.

Wilkinson- Better then last season, seems to have learnt a bit from Doig in terms of marshalling a defence. But a few defensive clearances had me shitting bricks

Boogard- Couple of moments when Sydney where able to get men in behind. See above about defensive clearances (still better then playing him at CDM)

Heffernan- Did enough against Danning that he wasn't anywhere near the threat I feared he might be. In attack not spectacular, but he did his best work in defence.

Bojic- Our best player IMHO, defensively did everything that could be expected of him and more, though in attack seems to try to do things too fast.

Hutchinson- Defensively alright, got stuck in which was good to see. In attack in the first half fell into those bad habits of passing backwards on numerous occasions. 2nd half provided a little more drive forward. (was it him that won the penalty? All I really saw was bodies everywhere)

Elrich- Guilty of killing several counter-attacks with slow movement of himself and subsequently the ball, no significant end product. A hell of a lot less threat then Porter, who I think will take his position in attack against Brisbane(I hope)

McGlinchey- Has obvious class, thats easy enough to see. Just got muscled out too easily which negated any creative effectiveness that he could provide.

Kwasnik- A couple of moments where I thought it would be his match, the rest of the time he was a bit shite. At least he didn't put the penalty over  :headbutt:

Simon- Held the ball up well, but was isolated_far_too often for it to come to anything. Was it just me or by the end was he a lot less then 100%?

Subs

McAllister- Why he is being made to play right wing is so far beyond me that its hilarious. Should've buried it in the 93rd minute, but the fact thats he's being wasted on the wing means its as good as a wasted sub

Travis- On for 2 minutes, wasted sub

The other sub- Ohh wait, there wasn't one  :headbutt:

What is the go with Lawrie and not using his bench with any kind of effect, D-Mac on the wing? a sub in injury time and a 3rd sub not even used. Its just annoying as all f*ck tbh. Can someone in a position to talk to Lawrie please question him on this??

The side I would put out against Brisbane would be: (assuming Doig is fit)

                                          Vukovic

                          Wilkinson                    Doig
Boogard                                                                      Heffernan

                            Bojic                  Hutchinson

Porter                              McGlinchey                          Kwasnik

                                      Simon

Bench: Whoever else  (maybe give Caceras a go, sure as hell won't hurt)

Kwassie needs to produce after his less then great performance today, and Elrich for mine just doesn't look half the player he was, Porter provides more impetus and a better final product based on today. That side is based on the assumption that Doig, Simon and Hutchinson are fit.

As for the rest of the season, if today is the level we're going to be playing at, we won't make the finals. If we play to out potential, then who knows really it'll be close I think

Clint Bolton gets my vote for MoM. Very disappointed.

Possibly, danny made quite an amazing save against aloisi (i think), who had a shot in front of goal, they did show a reply of it!
the top two players in my opinion were the keepers.
and then i thought micky G had a good one.

was an average game at best

Anyone who was surprised Kwas took the penalty is kidding themselves, whenever he has been here he's taken them. We all know what he can do when he doesnt have too long to think, unfortunately Hutcho's treatment meant he had what felt like a lifetime, you could see him walking around trying to keep calm, bouncing the ball. Bolton still had to pick the right way so I won't be blaming him.

Pedj again, incredible

Agree, but effort was unrewarded. Danny also took charge (dangerously) when the defenders failed. Why am I getting so wound up on this? Pox on all of them (cept the keepers and the wee man.

Lets all take a step back and repeat after me, Hutcho is not our attacking focus anymore (and never was tbh) He did the work in defence and covered any time someone was pushing up (Heff for example). When Perj pushed forward Hutch stayed back and viceversa. Lets be honest end of last season our defence would of lost us that game we controlled the threats with experience and the team covering for everyone was good team work.

Don't know that simon up front alone is working out, but then I don't know if Dmac and Simon up front together in a 442 would be any better. 1 goal in 3 games and people are complaining that we are only drawing, let's take the points now and work up the confidence.

TBF on the penalty, it was on target and not heading for the hospital which is what I expected.  :-\

We have had a shorter preseason than almost any team and we are not doing that badly, more concern is the mounting yellows for Simon.

The one that hit the cross bar? Didn't get a hand to it, his effort on the aloisi off side was better.

Great to see all the positive feedback about the game. I thought we played well, we were rock solid at the back. Both teams had chances and i thought it was a great game to watch. The sydney support was great. I only dream about the marinators being that good sorry guys. Lucky sydney brought up 2000 people other wise it would have been a very poor crowd.

Bojic was rubbish in midfield. I saw even more from Elrich to be honest!

Kwas' penatly was a good shot, it was just a greater save made by Bolton. Anyone stepping up to take the match winning "shut the gate" penalty in the 92 minute has big cahones.

The Marinators will have that kind of support when the Central Coast has a population of 5 million. Until then, we should just build on what we have. I thought in the last 20 minutes or so, Bay 23 was great.
