ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

replace "*scoreline* to the mariners" with "*scoreline* to the coasty boys" or "*scoreline* to the central coast"

;D Funny most of these chants got a run last night and went pretty well imho of course i reckon we should just sing whatever works on the day at the moment they might not be all that creative n probably over used but if it gets the bays making noise then i reckon sing whatever over done noise is better then no noise. :p

Although I've relegated myself to the fact that OCCASIONALLY "Mariners - Clap x 3" must be tolerated, it really must be avoided except in cases of extreme desperation. Twice half is WAY to often IMO.

Edit: twice per half ... as in two times within 45mins

the problem is all the chants this thread wants to stop are the only ones that get people going...because mostly they are simple... and swimming carnival like..... im all for getting rid of them but not until we have everyone singing our other ( what other? ) chants...

Anything that sounds like it belongs at a football match.  :p

All the long "oooooh oooooh" type ones that have been added this season are a step in the right direction. And they work because they are just as catchy and simple as the shitty preschool swimming carnival ones :shudder:, with the added benefit of being more football-esque in sound, and likely to keep going for longer. Often they build and get louder the more they are repeated.

The rest of the bays have given us "Mariners - clap x3" which fills in about 120 seconds per match. If we can't get the whole place creating an intimidating and inspiring cauldron of sound, then it's the job of the bay to create that vibe as best we can (in limited numbers) to fill in the other 88mins + stoppages.

Just because the swimming carnival thing works everywhere else in the stadium doesn't mean we need to do it. It happens without our help.

If we lead by example and focus on "atmosphere", people who don't get involved except for 2mins of ol' 3-clap can't complain about the Marinators being a sub-standard supporters' group. However if we persist with crap chants, more and more people will begin to agree with the naysayers, especially once participation begins to fall off.

To be fair, the Mariners clap-clap-clap is about all you get from the other parts of the ground.

Its a start.

On Saturday night, it happened a couple of times and its about the only time the atmosphere in the whole stadium lifts.

Unfortunatly the so called "shitty" chants are the most effective at this stage at getting most involved.
Have to walk before you can run.

I am well aware of this fact, but I think they (the shitty chants) are already doing as much as they can. Just because Mariners clap3 gets the kids going for 2 mins doesn't mean it'll fly for 90 mins.... or 10' for that matter.

At the moment the majority of the crowd don't sing for the majority of the match. The Marinators do, week in, week out. One day (we hope - but it will take a long time) other parts of the crowd will start catching on to something other than 3-clap.  Then we'll be saying "don't stop doing that, it really gets the crowd going".

Problem is, if that next chant (or, preferably, next song) is as monotonous and lame as 3-clap, we'll already be sick of it by the time the crowd starts to catch on. Then if they do catch on, we'll be stuck persisting with another cringeworthy chant.

Good example - I was thinking on Sat how it's been a while for that one.

So............ what can we sing?
mariners clap clap clap for 90mins straight imho

In all seriousness though....there is know reason for the bay to start a mariners clap clap clap....the rest of the stadium doesnt follow a lead and will start it themselves if  and when they feel the need

And they do. When attacking at our end, quite often the stadium can be heard doing it
