Hmmm, thoughts on the game.... well... we got excited the last 20mins or so and looked the goods to almost take a win. Ref has had an absolute shocker with alot of calls.... ESPECIALLY the hand ball in the dying minutes(I wasn't blind was I??) Though I did think the one in the first half hitting the crossbar went in too(I was sitting on the southern side of halfwway though) but just watched the replay on the news... not quite in!!

Glad to see the boys knocking it around a bit and keeping possession for alot more than last week. How much pace does Rose have down the left when he makes his runs???

Just got to capitalize on those missed opportunities in front of goals and we'll be hard to beat!!Looking forward to the rest of the season!!! :D

As for them time wasting in the last 10mins..... FARK ME.....

Dutchy was all class...Bozanic and Rose showed what they can do but need more time...we are still missing a cutting edge up front...is Perez injured or homesick? Maybe he needs a hug?! Matty is really becoming the heart of the team, i am unsure about his talents but man he makes things happen. 4 from 6 is still a good start...let's be patient.

I tell you what, I was terribly frustrated by the end of the match. The referee really didn't know what he was doing. He was afraid to make calls (especially in the box), the blatant handball towards the end tore it for me.

I have to say Adelaide's "I'm injured" tactics at the end of the match was tiresome, a side effect of playing in the AFC I guess. We can't win so lets waste time. Filthy tactics. I'm glad Hughes got what was coming to him though.

I can't remember the last time I felt exhausted after watching a high energy Mariners match. At least it wasn't a dour 0-0 draw (i.e. typical draw for anyone playing against Adelaide, just see last weeks match vs scum *snore*).

It was great to see the boys come out and show some spirit in the second half, Adelaide had nothing when we really turned it on. Arnold just needs to make them play like that for the entire match.

Firstly regarding the other posts I can old guess that Serious has been drinking Special Brew while in the UK because you are talking fluent bollocks mate!

This game was strange. We were VERY poor in the first half but still should have gone in 1.0 up at half time.
Second half we started shite again until Arnie hooked Porter and Kwas and immediately we started to improve.
Lesson....Dont play Simon in the mids, dont play Kwas anywhere, start Pedj before Porter and put a rocket up the boys so they play like they did in the last 30 mins.

Ratings.

JVS. 7. Not bad, maybe could have made a better effort on Fyfe goal.
Porter 6. Nah. Ok defensively but shite going forward...time for a spell
Wilko..6.5 Good apart from appalling marking on their goal. Put ya hand up but don't stop tracking ffs.
Dutch..7. Pretty good.
Rose 8. MOM. Very exciting.
Wee Mac. 6.5. Terrible first half but much better second 45.
Hutcho 6.5 Much better when pushed to attacking mid.
Simon 7. Good game. Real handful when put up front.
Olly 7.5. Good game, showed quality again.
McBreen 6.5. Should have scored and not as good as last week but isolated with Kwas a non-entity alongside him.
Kwas 4. Worse than last week. Drop to Yoof and put Disco on the bench.

Subs;

Pedj 7. Good impact.
Disco 6.5 Did more in his cameo than Kwas did in 60mins.
Rostyn. 6.5. looks useful.

Yep....Griffiths & Pedj should start next game. Really not sure about the Kwas, Matty,McBreen forward line...If Perez isn't fit or missing his family let's get Amini in there.

what a great drama packed game! loving the mariners style of play (more evident after the changes)

simon looked way better when moved back to striker as did hutch in attacking mid

rose is freakin fast and has some serious class

Zwaanswijk was outstanding apart from a few penalties (one that lead to the goal), i saw wilko was getting forward ALOT more than previous seasons, he must trust him enough to leave him alone back there

porter, some of his defence was fantastic, but his crossing was below average. would not be surprised if pedj gets a start ahead of him though, he was really going hard

gotta say, i loved that game... showing signs that we are shaping up for a big season

How did those Adelaide handballs in the penalty area look to the TV audience? To us down the other end of the stadium, they looked like nailed-on penalties!

Lucky they don't replay the controversial bits on the big screen at Bluetongue, or there might have been a riot or two.

Have now watched the replay a few times.
Not intentional but would have been called had it been outside the box. Ref had no balls.

69% of possession, 15 shots on goal - 9 on target and 1 off the woodwork... all stats we like to see for home games

Enjoyable game... Shame about the crowd size on a beautiful coast Sunday... Guess it's the NRL coming to a climax.. Promising signs from the team and some real class from rose and olly... For the people complaining about armie, it's game 2, we are undefeated... Can it really be that bad...

Feeling great about this season after today's effort!

Rose, Zwaanswijk and Bozanic were outstanding. McBreen will find his feet and put away those chances before too long. McGlinchey, Hutch and new keeper Jess V. all impressed.

Bring on the Phoenix!

Griffiths IMO turned the match... or Hutch going forward with Matty up front... Griffiths is an excellent defensive mid ... much better from I have seen than Hutch in the DM role...

Tho Dutchy at the back was a power of strength and our left side with Rose & Oliver .. simply outstanding...

Was quite a good game as I saw it ... hand ball was very unlucky should have been a penalty ... my confidence grows slowly...

Someone who watched the game on t.v/saw a replay might correct me on this.
but from my view in the stadium Mrdja seemed to have missed an open goal in the 92nd minute?

I honestly thought the 8000+ crowd was quite decent considering that all of the local Premier League & 1st Div first and reserve grade teams play at 1pm & later. There's a hell of a lot people that would normally go to these matches, so add them to the equation & I reckon we could be getting crowds of 9500+ once the local season concludes.

BUT, start winning games, scoring goals and playing good football and the crowds will come!!!

We played Elephant Touch (Kwassie) up front and Matty as the number 10.... Matty up front and Arime the number 10 is what i would have liked... with Kwassie as an impact player off the bench...

The Adam Hughes one appeared to me to be the result of a lack of awareness rather than being intentional. I guess that the referee had the same opinion, hence the penalty not being awarded.
