ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

This has been brewing for some time, and now appears ready for launch at the Members Post-Game function tonight, after the game vs Roar, in the Scenic Room of the CCLC.

It will be interesting to see how it develops ... the club were not interested in the early years in an official group, favouring a membership (season ticket plus) system but then dropped the ball a fair bit on that.

Need to be sure to take the active support with them, few of them were v negative pre game.

No idea why, they haven't done anything yet but will be interesting.

Not being involved in either, I have no idea but was intrigued that some people already seem to have their noses out of joint.

Just making the point that its important to bring the main body of fans along.

I've had no involvement in this plan, so I had a long chat at half time with one of the main proponents. Seems to be geared to be very INclusive of ALL fans. I think it hopes to be a complimentary additional avenue of club engagement. I don't see any sign of it being exclusively for any single type of fan, eg. vocal, non-vocal, attendees\Foxtel fans, old\young, Club Membership (Season ticket) holder, Yellow Army follower, Bay 16ers.

I hope it is a true collaborative SUPPORT club. Not just a whinge avenue.

This new club needs to, and I'm sure will, set out very clearly its charter and scope\focus.

FFC Mariner - can you define 'main body' and 'active' support? Are you just talking about vocal supporters? In a sense, anyone who gets off their arse and gets to a game can be regarded as 'active'!

My bad. I meant vocal.

Personally, I truly have high hopes for this initiative. I know some people who are involved and they have the fans/clubs best interests at heart.

. i can't seem to be able to link direct to the 'story page' ... but there is an article on the mariners webpage about the supporters club:

http://www.centralcoastmariners.com.au/

. basically a re-hash of the previous blurb/announcement with this important addition:

This Saturday, at the last A-League match at Bluetongue Stadium before the finals, the fan group intends to promote the concept by marketing the idea to every fan who attends. Flyers will be handed out to fans at the start of the march at Kibble Park and at the gates as people arrive at the match. The flyer will provide an opportunity for fans to write down their e-mail address and place it into collection boxes as well as including a link to the supporter clubs first web site. As the final steps are taken to form the Central Coast Mariners Official Supporters Club, those who submit their email address or check out the website will be kept up to date with progress towards an official launch expected to be before the beginning of next season.

This is your chance to become involved, show your support and help the Mariners become the best and proudest club in the A-League so don’t miss out.

A worthy read, and maybe a role that any official supporters club needs to embrace - mediator between vocal\rowdy fans and the Club\FFA. Not suggesting and us v them role, but more of a 'calming-troubled-waters' role, should it be needed.

I hasten to add that there is little need currently, because the club\supporters\security\police relationship seems pretty groovy at the moment.

You write rules, develop systems and establish protocols on good days so when the bad day comes everyone knows where they stand.

Ok so their website isn't up and they want email addresses.

I'm sure I'll get disapproving looks for this comment, but, sounds a bit like déjà vu to me. I do hope it works out though, for the sake of supporting the club, players and those who have put their time and hard work behind the project.

. i'd be interested to know your thoughts on the subject ... what was tried in the past and what the issues were (in your opinion). things can't improve if we are unable to learn from past experiences

. happy to converse via the personal message function if you would prefer
