Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I thought Lawrie originally said he could go after the ACL?

Oh well it's football, people come and go, you would think Mrdja would be offered a new deal now surely, unless Lawrie has plans for someone else?

I certainly won't be chanting his name again but you can't blame him wanting 2 years at his age

This is where I'm at. Not angry about it, or resenting the guy. When he came here you never got the impression that he would be a coastie for life. He had a good two years, and scored goals for us. He enjoyed his football, we enjoyed his company. Happy to leave it at that.

Yeh, I'm okay with Sasho making a decision for his own future. He put his heart into many performances this year for us. Having said that, I reserve the right to yell abuse at him now that he is Scum :)

And suck shit to all the Jest supporters that have been giving him so much crap in the past couple of years. I wonder if we'll still see the "Sasho's a girl's name" banners.

Quite clearly he couldn't come to terms with the mariners so how can you blame him from wanting to earn a living. He has a family with kids and needs money to feed and look after them. Wish Sash all the best but still hope the scum finish last and he doesn't score.

Not really bitter about this tbf...... just slightly disappointed.  He was very good at what he does best for us (poaching), and his work rate this year was off the charts - remember sighting him at right back on many an occasion.  However, I can understand the "not wanting to give him a 2 year deal".

Thanks for the goals Sasho, and hit a goal scoring slump come March 1.  ;)

meh. all this 'our way of thinking' stuff is bullshit. there's no medal that gets handed out for being the most one-eyed supporter in the land, and there's nothing that makes you special for 'hating' sasho more than anyone else.

he's a money-grubbing mercenary, but frankly most footballers are. he's signed for the scum but frankly they've been had because they're paying over the odds and for two seasons. if from here he goes up there and does f**k all i'll be very pleased. when he playes us, i'll boo him like everyone else, but i'm not going to make a big show of it to prove how 'passionate' i am.

umm, what? who said anything about medals and wanting to be seen as special dibo?

Simple, imo and quite clearly some others, if you sign for our biggest rivals, your a judas prick, thats our opinion. Are we allowed to have it without out being told we are only trying to "look special"?

some of the stuff that goes around seems a bit confected, that's all. we all must adhere to appropriate standards of support or else we are all plastic...

this isn't anything like an luis figo, alan smith or sol campbell transfer or even a mark viduka. with so few teams and the salary cap, this league works very differently and frankly this sort of thing is going to happen a lot. getting all bent out of shape about it every time seems a waste of time to me.

The only difference between the figo, smith and campbell transfers and the spencer, holland and sasho transfers is the length of time the teams and comps have existed for.

So we as fans should not be as passionate, because our team and comp has not been around as long?

no, because when you've got 8 (now 10) teams who are all competing over a limited stock of players under the constraint of a salary cap, this sort of thing is going to happen a lot.

sasho's competing for the 'top-line striker earning well over $100k' spot on a club's list. even with 10 clubs, odds are there will only be two or three clubs looking to hire his kind of player at any given time. given that two of the other nine clubs are derby rivals, it's not that unlikely that give the same situation again we're going to see more players hop the fence to the neighbours.

FWIW, players here are earning not a lot of money and they're not earning it for very long either. they've got to take what coin they can get, when they can get it. it's not like big leagues OS where to the fans' view there can be no justifiable reason to hop to your derby rivals because your GBP60,000 a week demands have been rejected. these guys have a limited time on limited dosh and so a little bit of latitude must be offered.

i'm not telling you not to be passionate (i'm pretty passionate about the mariners too), i'm just saying it's worth being realistic about the way this league works.

Bear

imo I am being realistic. I hate Newcastle, if your a Mariner and then sign for them, ill hate you. Thats my opinion, deal with it
