Are you serious?

The amount of clubs he has been at is more of a concern considering his age...
was on loan at 5 of them fwiw

and what does that tell you?

Being sent on out on loan is for players who cannot gain regular playing time at the club or for professional development. When this is done in the 4th tier of England it hardly encouraging.

I just feel that a trial would be the smarter decision, even if he is just for here for the group stages. The club is still paying him a wage and I'd hate for the club to be throwing money away on what has the potential to be a "GVE signing."

whats fwiw?

being out on loan means the club have someone at that point in time who the manager believes plays more to the sides strengths or the managers preferred game plan or is just better. It does not mean they wouldn't be in the starting 11 at another side or that the player does not have the skill to compete at that level. Which brings us to the point that LM must see something in him that he can use for his side.

Once again you need to look at it from a perspective other than your own.

Take Jo at Manc for example. He came to them as a top rated young striker and they paid 19m for him before the arabs came. He did not fit into that team and subsequently he has been loaned out to Everton. Does that mean he now does not have the quality that they bought him for?

Also i believe that the guy is back in Aus for good? So consider this next few months a "trial" for a position in our squad for V5.

Exactly scottmac,

The ACL has a squad size of 30 players so its not like he is taking up a valuable position. If he isnt up to the standard then he wont be in the starting line up and he will be let go off after the ACL group stage IMO, therefore only costing us the price of his wage. As it is we have little depth in midfield and defense so even if he only provides injury cover, its better than nothing. It also doesnt mean that better quality players cant be signed either (in fact they definitely should be, as there is space).

If he is good enough, or perhaps is a quality player, then he would most likely be signed for v5.

keef gillespie didn't wind up at any british clubs during the end of the tranfer deadline, but as an unattached player i believe (am perfectly happy to be corrected if wrong) that he's able to sign at any time, regardless of deadlines.

he could still be looking at other clubs over there, though you might expect that might breach any release agreement (non-competition clauses etc.). he may be a chance for us, he may go to asia, who knows.

in any case - keef's still available, let's just hope he's actually talking to us.

SASHO Petrovski has continued his journey up the F3 by signing for Newcastle Jets from Central Coast Mariners today.
Newcastle Jets this afternoon confirmed the signing of the 33 year old striker who began his A-League career at Sydney FC in 2005. He has now signed up on a two year deal at Newcastle.

Petrovski will be available on Matchday 1 of the Jets' first foray into the AFC Champions League when the team plays Beijing Guoan on Tuesday, 10 March, however he will not make the switch until the Mariners' 2009 Finals campaign has concluded.

A true goal poacher and one of the most prolific goalscorers in Australian domestic football for over a decade, Petrovski has already played for both of the Jets' intrastate rivals in the Hyundai A-League, Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners, scoring 28 goals in his 85 games with the two clubs.

Before this he was one of the most potent strikers in the National Soccer League (NSL) competition, playing for the likes of Wollongong Wolves and Parramatta Power, and also enjoyed a stint abroad with Danish outfit Viborg FF.

"We're very happy to have Sasho on board, particularly with our venture into the Asian Champions League on the horizon," Jets' CEO John Tsatsimas said this afternoon.

"He brings a tremendous amount of experience to our squad, especially on the domestic front which will certainly be of great value to us moving forward. Having been such a dominant figure in Australian domestic football for some time, he will be someone that our younger players can learn and draw knowledge from.

"Goalscorers of Sasho's calibre, and with his excellent record, are quite difficult to come by in Australia and his presence in the final third is an attribute which makes him an ideal recruit for our club.

"We wish Sasho all the very best of luck in this year's Finals Series with the Mariners, but we're also very much looking forward to having him here in Newcastle when he joins the rest of our team," he said.

well its finally been confirmed

Gotta look on the bright side with this Huke guy - he is only 23... and not 33.

I reckon we should sign Chris from Nigeria. He is currently playing for APIA Leichardt now.
