those are the two i can think of to cover for Kwasnik. Maybe I am being over the top optimistic but id hope we should be able to tie one of those 2 down. As for an experienced attacking mid I really dont know this is probably where LM, LG and PT have to look overseas and maybe get some help off one of the sister clubs. Another position needed filling is CB, again I dont know how we would fill it but I dont think the situation is as alarming as either a CAM or GK as for a GK i seriously hope JVS instead of MB

Didn't someone already post that Bosnich has a guest contract? Apparently Lawrie announced this at the post game function yesterday?

Any news on Ljubo Milicic for CB, I think he could fit in here.

I think we need a RB as well as a CAM.

Why we have plenty of cover for that.

Osman
Clark
Porter
Wilko

are all capable of playing in that position if needed

I disagree, Wilko will play CB, I think Clarke is past his prime and IMHO osman and porter are not good enough.

Osman has been out for a long time so maybe he'll return better but after watching Poter play RB on saturday i think he is out of his league. just my opinion however if we sign another CB i guess Boogs could play CB or RB, then I guess we would have the depth in that position. bit I have heard no rumours about Lawrie signing a CB or RB

well who knows once Gumprecht is officially released we have 4-5 positions to fill so we might pick up both a right and a centre back.

All I have to say is I hope LG, PT and LM have some announcements up their sleeve as going into V4 I'm not confident of a top 4 finish!

IMO Sydney and Melbourne have recruited well, Adelaide look good but how much will they miss Burns and Djite? Wellington will be better, Perth and QLD look about the same as V3, and you can't count the Jets out, but will they keep North?  As for us yes we've signed a couple of good wingers, jury out on both of them, McAlister shows encouraging signs but the goal scoring record is questionable?

It's hard to really judge until we get cracking with Rd 1 but I just feel we are lacking depth and need to fill some positions in a very short period of time!

In Lawrie we trust :)

Wilko - yes he'll play CB, but if we're desperate, he can do the job.
Osman - not good enough? LOL! Was the best RB in the league last year before he got injured
Clark - past it? Did you see the second leg of the Major semi? He's hardly past it.
Porter - Like Wilko, not ideal but can do the job.

Source??? i think we'll miss him this season. Just means that Laurie needs to sign more talent this season.

Why would Troisi leave the toon army?

Wikipedia

On 6 May 2008 it was announced that Troisi would not be offered a contract with Newcastle United after the end of the 2007/8 season.

I'd be happy with him or Ollie. Wasn't Ollie in one of the V1 Bay 16 photos?

can Troisi play as a second striker or an attacking midfielder or is he just on the wing because if we were to sign him he would be higher in the pecking order than Ahmad. All I know is that there are only 2 cap positions left because we still have to sign a U23 (mostly) outside the cap and a marquee which will ease restrictions on the cap IMO

Porter looked lost at RB because he is an attacking MF...........He is probably one of our best young talents.

Osman is without doubt a good RB and will be outstanding again for us this year.

No one is mentioning a certain M Bridges I notice.

Michael Bridges, that played for Syndey last year? Why would me mention him?

I'd have him here if there was a chance

Wait and see.

Some reasonably well connect blingers heard it from SFC that he wants to come back, they cant afford him so he has spoken to us.

Maybe crap but CCM do have a habit of springing surprises

Would that signing spell the end of Mrdja if it happened. Would Lawrie want 5 strikers and would Bridges be marquee?

Would be a good signing IMO, but I just have a feeling it wouldn't happen

Mrdja - 6/8 games if we are lucky (but maybe 4 or 5 goals). Likely no games in reality

Sasho - probably good for 7 or 8 goals, maybe 10??

Macca - Not a good record and unknown really - maybe 6??

Matty S - Bench player TBH maybe 3 or 4 goals??

Last regular season we scored 30 goals all up - unless we feel someone in MF will ship in with a few, we might need another striker??

Has it actually been confiremd Mrdja is with us this season? I'm not suggesting he won't be, but we're all assumming he is. I thought it depended on him proving he'll be right for the season.

It's not definite yet right?

good summary. To be honest, I think Mrdja is deadwood

good summary indeed. But heres my slightly different version

Mrdja - I think he will play a full season + score alot of goals so long as he is not pushed to hard *ie socceroo selection

Sasho - probably good for 7 or 8 goals, maybe 10?? - agree

Macca - Not a good record and unknown really - maybe 6 - agree

Matty S - With the form he is hitting for the olyroos, ( i beleive its about a goal a game) i think he has potential for 8-9 goals. Im probably being wishful though, hes more likely to score 4-5.

Hopefelly Heff, hutch and Elrich can all get back on the ship S.S Goal time.
