Does anyone know when Caceres officially joins us?

For some reason, I think after June 30.  Not sure why though.  Maybe read it somewhere??

that'd be when his contract (and therefore his obligations) with us would begin. until then, i think he'd be having a nice holiday on melbourne's dime.

His contract with MVFC would end some time in June (most are on the 30th), so it would be after that. Technically he shouldn't be training with you on Melbourne's payroll, it's a contract breach.

yeah it is june 30th, unless Melbourne give him an early release but I doubt they would do that to help out our preparations. because either way it will probably cost them the same amount release him from the deal for the last few days than it will to just pay his salary until it expires.

Mariners confirm Trott release

The Central Coast Mariners have today confirmed that goalkeeper Matthew Trott, who made six appearances for the Mariners over three Hyundai A-League seasons, will not have his contract renewed for the Hyundai A-League 2008/09 season.

Trott had largely served the yellow and navy as an understudy to Danny Vukovic since first joining the club as a short-term injury replacement for John Crawley in December 2005.

Aside from the Hyundai A-League, Trott had made several appearances in friendlies and Pre-Season Cup matches for the Mariners, including a cornerstone role at the Philips Lighting Soccer 7s in Hong Kong in 2007.

"By virtue of the unique situation regarding our goalkeeping stocks for next season, with Danny Vukovic set to miss a significant part of the campaign through suspension, we have been somewhat forced to make this very difficult decision," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

"Matthew has been a model professional during his time at the Mariners and we are very thankful for his contribution to our club on and off the pitch since he first joined us.

"We wish him well with his future endeavours and we will keenly monitor his future progress."

The Mariners pre-season trial match program continues at Budgewois Frank Millington Field against the Newcastle Jets this coming Saturday, 21 June. Kick off is at 2.45pm. Tickets are on sale now from the Budgewoi Soccer Club - $5 for families or $10 for families consisting of two adults and two children.

Mariners Memberships for the Hyundai A-League 2008/09 season are now on sale at www.ccmariners.com.au.

Wow, I thought he was still on contract for one mor year, and even so I didn't see this coming.

Surely it is to make for JVS

sad, no more trott stuff  :(

so has trott been released in order to free up funds for a more permanent goal keeper?

also, do you think this mean when danny is eligible to play he'll have to fight for his starting spot back?

well you would have to assume Bosnich, Van Stratten or Filan?

I have no idea which 1 was spotted in Terrigal recently though?

it would have to be JVS.  His family live on the coast.  His sister lives in QLD.

If is VS the offer has been upgraded since the weekend and is a good move.

I would not be against seeing bosnich or filan in the team either.

If any of the 3 it is a very good signing by the club.

Unfortunate for trott when  all said and done. He seems to be the biggest loser from dannys red card.
