ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I have calmed down now. Sorry for calling you a dog Staj.

I greatly appreciate what you did for us and if like Mick is suggesting, that you have walked away due to principal and Pikey making your position untenable, then I respect that as well.

Let me preface by saying that I really don’t know the full situation. All I understand is that he walked without a concrete offer somewhere else. The details around him walking and which side is principally right I am unclear on.

I still cannot admire anyone who walks out on a commitment.

Football is a professional business and is played as such. If Staj is prepared to walk and do without a years salary because his situation is, in his eyes, intolerable, so be it. But he must be prepared to take a financial hit in terms of lost salary, or, extremely unlikely and pointless, being sued by the Club for breach of contract. He also loses much face and respect from me.
However if he wants to take on another professional role in football, whoever employs him must buy out the remainder of his contract. I hope the Club puts a significant figure on that buyout.

Likewise MC's ownership of the Club is business. He was obviously hoping to make a good capital gain on his original investment. He will not bleed the Club unless he is prepared to walk and sacrifice any investments he has made, like Palmer. If he was going to do that it would have happened by now. I imagine his plan was to build a successful enterprise without spending big. Having money does not guarantee success (look at Victory or WSW). Indeed it was Staj's often repeated statement when he first came here.
After three spoons MC finally realised that the model was not working and announced he was looking to sell out. Unfortunately he timed it to coincide with a perfect storm of Covid, Hyundai bailing, and Fox being bastards. No sale was going to happen until all that shit got sorted.
Ironically it was the only year that his business model, for however many reasons came good.

As fans we have little control over the destiny of the Club. Sure, we can withhold renewing memberships and not attend matches, but that hurts and devalues the Club making a sale less likely and any bailout by the governing body (Jets model) even less likely.

I guess the bottom line in all this is that if you want a say in the business you must have ownership. To be heard we must have some clout. The only way forward that I can see is the proposed Trust. Who knows we may have a say and eventually own the Club.

Sorry I have rambled. Mods please feel free to move this post to wherever it is most appropriate.

Hey all, I started picking through the posts about Staj to move them to other threads but there are sooo many, and some of them are not as clear as others where they need to live, eg "Give Staj another 5 years" "Who should replace Staj" or just stay here as they contain chat about the squad too. So I've left them as I think having the conversation spread all over the place will be even more confusing, and let's try stay a bit more on topic with squad discussion ?

MC is alive
Sounds like staj had been thinking about another job for a little bit (maybe Western U or women’s world cup) and has decided to take that up instead of our small budget run team

he literally confirmed what we all knew.
Staj asked for more support and was told no.

Have to agree. Maybe Staj thinks he has unfinished business with womens team, and they going not going to well at the moment.

I was thinking more a smaller nation with cash to splash on a well credentialed coach or even the big nations as he would have some big respect there and am surprised they didn’t come for him earlier

Maybe Europe or maybe Asian.

Not sure who China’s coach is but they would have no problem with a disciplinarian

Maybe or though highly doubtful as they have plenty of good coaches but left field would be a brazil

I still think he may have left the women’s game behind and is after one of the A League gigs
